The revolver chambers 45 Colt. I think the cylinder is to short for a 454 round. I have not shot it with 45 colt ammo as I wanted to have it checked out first. I did notice the inside of the cylinder has no blueing in it. It appers to have been reamed out. I am thinking It was a 5.5" 45...
Talked to Ruger today. It shipped as a 1995 Super BH 44 Mag blued Bisley with a 7.5" barrel. No record of a work order ever. They asked me to ship it so they can inspect it and we will go from there.
I like the feel of the gun and if all checks out good I will just have the caliber...
I bet this guy would be mader than me when he gets home and the 45 colt round dont fit into the cylinder!!
Any chance the retrofit was done by Ruger and they missed changing the stamping. I find it hard to belive Ruger would do such a change. I am going to call today and ask them if a repair...
I am still baffled that anyone with the capability to do such a conversion would not relable the gun. And am pissed off that the jerk that sold it to me claims he bought it new and it never patterned good. I dont belive he ever shot the dam thing
"Did the seller provide the box with the gun? If so, does the box have a label on it stating what was supposed to be inside? Just curious..."

When I bought this I had my heart set on a 44 Mag because my 1st gun was a Ruger 44 Carbine auto I got from my grandfather 30 years ago. I am not really into collecting just wanted a nice revolver that felt good in my hand. I dont want to cause an accident...
When I get home this afternoon I will post the S# and some pics.
As for checking to see how loose the casing was in the cylinder. You can bet I will watch closer next time.
The gun was purchased from a private "Hobby" seller in a booth at the Dubuque IA show in Feb
Not sure how to post a picture. Owner claims he is the original owner. He will not rufund my money and claims he sold my trade in. This is the last time I will buy a used gun at a show! I have sent a message to Ruger. [/img]
I bought a used 44 Mag bisley at a local gun show. The gun clearly reads "RUGER 44 Magnum Cal New Model super blackhawk" on the left side. It is a 4.625" barrel Bisley model with roll stamping on the cylinder.
So I go out to shoot it this weekend for the first time. I shot 6 rounds and upon...
