    Stuck live round

Two types of "stuck" rounds. One bullet stuck in the barrel. (Hammering it from either end will work, choose the shortest path of bullet passage.) Two, round stuck in the chamber. (Hammering it from the breach end dangerous and should NOT be done, from the muzzle end is the only way.) I bought...

    H-108

I looked on the internet, several blogs mention this powder, burns in the range of AA9, 2400.

    22/45 cleaning schedule

I have a friend who has a S&W 41 with a muzzle break. He's a precision bullseye competitor who shoots a lot. He has brought the 41 to me on occasion to clean and once to replace the worn out breach block mounted in the slide. The muzzle break was near "stopped up" with a "carbide" like...

Is it safe to fire .38 rounds out of a .357, or will it damage the revolver?

The whole bullet as you know is completely inserted in the case. The weight is 147 gr so the overall length is at least 1 1/2 the diameter. that said, a lot of the bullet is still in the case when the nose of the bullet reaches the cylinder face or even the barrel rifling lead. Recently a...

Meet the 5 Best Concealed Carry Semiautomatic Guns

Would you take advice from Microsoft News (MSN) concerning firearm selection? The article in question is MSN. I have read several other advice blurbs, not so factual historical info blurbs that are severely flawed. I suspect their advice blurbs are based on a questionnaire responses. Is MSN on...

    Squib

With a semi auto, and the tendency of folks to buzz through a magazine of ammo, they never notice it. With semiauto 22 a squib usually is louder than a full power load because all the noise and powder comes out of the breach end. I've even had a Remington 552 detonate halfway into the chamber...

    Screw size info for you

There are screw sizes and there are thread pitch variations. Common screws for firearms are 6-48. I have seen 6-40, 8-32, 8-40, 5-40. I've even see 1/4-20, and 1/4-28. I have seen a whole passel of metric sizes too.

    Squib

I have cleaned many 22 rifles with a wide spot in the barrel that tightens back up a little farther down the barrel.

Insulting the Ruger LCP II 22LR

Nay sayers? What I wrote is not "hear say". I recently took over 100 pounds of "range brass" to the recyclers from my gun club's pistol range. Before the recyclers will accept the range brass it has to be "inspected" for live rounds. During my "inspection" I found over 100 live 22 LR rounds...

Insulting the Ruger LCP II 22LR

Discounting the ultra-cheap inexpensive semiautos of the past with tainted mechanical heritage, in my humble opinion, the ammunition reliability is the major drawback in self-defense. Rarely will you buy a box of 100 rounds of premium ammunition where you will have 100 percent reliability...

    Crazy pricing on powder

I was recently told to my face by the CEO of the newest powder companies that powder this summer will be almost non-existent. He is actively seeking alternative sources for his offerings other than the Balkan Countries. He spent the latter month of 2023 and early 2024 in South Africa exploring...

    LCP II Troubles

In my 15 years of gunsmithing, feeding issues in semiautomatic handguns are magazine related 80% of the time. Believe it or not, a magazine is a precise instrument especially for a 22LR. In the past I have heard how unreliable the P08 Luger, the problems are related to a flimsy sheet metal...

    Alliant powder going up

Oh Yes! Jason Vanderbrink, the CEO of Vista Outdoors (newly purchased by a Czech holding company) that own CCI/Speer, Federal, Remington ammunition companies and Alliant Powder has promised a drastic cost increase in ammunition and reloading components earlier this year. Hodgdon Powders...

    New mini14

Yes Several years ago, I sold a civillian Mini-14 with original box and papers that had a similar folding stock for $1400 on Gun Broker. So I guess $1800 is not completely out of line.
