I would like to know why Ruger reduced the cylinder capacity of the .480

The chamber pressure change took it from 44 mag range into 475 Linebaugh territory (it is a "baby" 'baugh, after all). I'd imagine some liability issues went into it until it was realized the cylinder was plenty strong. I'm not saying you can't blow up a SRH cylinder, but you'd have to work at...

    Things are heating

Yeah--imagine if you could at least have your can be non NFA. Integrated suppressed 8 inch barrel and telescoping stock on your SBR. Nice truck gun.

I would like to know why Ruger reduced the cylinder capacity of the .480

I understand there was a run of SRH with 5 shot cylinders at one time. Supposedly there were some concerns over cylinder wall thickness. I think that was then dismissed and they went back to 6. I've heard some say they want the 5 shot for collector purposes, as not a lot produced. It may be...

Dunno. I have two and they both are six shooters. I know the single action Bisley is 5.

Differences In Primer Fit Ginex vs Federal

I can't answer the question posed, but for more info on primers than most may care for I commend to you Mic McPherson: A short Primer on Primers Got mine on Amazon. Good luck sorting it!

    New Jersey and California Updates

Our history of "firearms regulation" is deeply rooted in keeping guns out of one or more groups hands. But those were far from the most discriminatory laws--just real useful when you want to make sure you can keep the rabble in check.

Rifle of the day. 458 Number 1

Beauts both, but I'll bet they get your attention when the go off! Along with attention of anything downrange. And that wood from another era is something else. Just don't see that on factory guns anymore.

Ruger Double Action Slotted Ejector Rod Screwdriver Bit

They could, but it takes time and effort. That equates to a gun with an un-acceptable market price, IMO. Likely the same reason the Marlins that Remington produced often were poor examples. I did hand turn a drill bit first to catch any major burrs--and there were a couple more. Next, wool...

Ruger Double Action Slotted Ejector Rod Screwdriver Bit

Does the SP101 have a separate trigger return spring? If so, you really want to check that return tunnel out. I had a "giant" drilling remnant hanging on the trigger side of that tunnel in a SRH. I think it had been interfering with the return spring. If it had broken off in use, it definitely...

Ruger Double Action Slotted Ejector Rod Screwdriver Bit

I was going to mention Triggershims. He has a ton of info on the site, though it can be a bit of a challenge to get through. Seems you know of it though. I ordered the bit from Brownells.

Good article. Many of us just will not live long enough to see all this play out. But, we got to see the virtual "first step" in a thousand mile journey.

Can You Handle The .44 Magnum?

Never shot that one, but love the old DWs. I bought a SRH in 480 Ruger that had an aftermarket shortened and heavier barrel installed. It's a virtual pussycat. That heavy barrel really seems to help out.

    Interesting comparison (cal vs penetration)

Thanks for that info! Id consider adding a "deep cover/backup" 22 mag to my options. Any suggestions on the options for a minimum 2-3 shot super compact carry gun?

    Some Custom Kitchen Knives

Nice!! Good kitchen knives are an absolute must. Those are well beyond my pay grade. Thankfully I picked up a bunch of Ken Onion design Shuns off ebay years ago. Rounded out with some Globals. Not custom, but sure serviceable. We take care of ours, and they should last the rest of our lives.
