My Bisley Flattop .44 short review......

I have the same revolver but in 5.5" and have basically the same measurements meaning 4mil end play. On my revolver the end play is reduced when cartridges are inserted as the rims push the cylinder forward. It works well even though theoretically it shouldn't meet headspace spec. Please...

Stress/force on a revolver when firing

Stress/force on a revolver when firing

Well one possible answer is that recoil begins before the bullet exits the barrel and this is probably thee correct answer. Now assuming recoil begins before the bullet exits the barrel (I am becoming a believer) it seems the bullet traveling down the barrel is applying a forward force on the...

Stress/force on a revolver when firing

Thanks Varminterror for the description. The only thing I would question is related to recoil/muzzle rotation and where the bullet is during that rotation. All the slo-mo videos I have seen show the recoil happens after the bullet exits the barrel. Surely the bullet accelerating down the...

Stress/force on a revolver when firing

Hmmm, well I was thinking that recoil force is along the barrel axis and the top strap is just above the barrel axis. So when the bullet is in the barrel and accelerating you get tangental or rotational force which puts the top strap in compression and rotates the revolver at the same time...

Stress/force on a revolver when firing

For those with a mechanical bent or maybe just a learned opinion, what and where are the stresses/force on a revolver when firing. My thoughts are when the hammer strikes the primer the cylinder will have a forward motion just from the momentum of the hammer with amount of travel dependent upon...

Copper colored lining in new stainless barrel.

I think some are confusing concern with curiosity. In my barrel it is not uniform throughout so I don't think it is intentionally put there. As for asking Ruger, they typically don't answer question about their manufacturing process.

Copper colored lining in new stainless barrel.

I will add that when I first saw the color in my barrel and realized it wasn't copper or rust I did some searching online and found a post somewhere asking similar question. Everyone told him it was copper fouling even though he was convinved it wasn't. The only thing I know for sure is that...

Copper colored lining in new stainless barrel.

I have the very exact same thing in my relatively new SS Bisley Blackhawk 44 special. It is not copper as I went thru a rigorous cleaning process. I will tell you it is tenacious as after hundreds of rounds it is still there. Some possibilities: stain from cutting oil thread locker side...

    Ranblin' on.............

"My original question remains: Why does this powder not perform well with this bullet in this gun?" It is the combination of the the operating pressure of 23kpsi with a soft alloy bullet along with some dimensional aspect of the revolver. I can help you figure out which specific dimensional...

    Ranblin' on.............

You are using a very soft bullet for a 23kpsi load (win 231). The HS-6 load is only at 15kpsi. Slight differences in front-end of the revolver results in keyholing or not keyholing. Simple as that.

Sights GP 100 with the three in barrel

Shouldn't you remove the three from the barrel before you worry about replacing the sights?

    Is the .357 Magnum obsolete?

Flexible for...what Do you mean how or why is the 357M flexible or do you mean what use is the 357M? Let’s start with what use is the 357M? It can be used for target, self-defense, small game, large game, and plinking. Can other cartridges cover this range...yep. But if you think about it...

    Is the .357 Magnum obsolete?

Kind of silly question given the 357M is thee most flexible handgun cartridge ever designed.
