Thanks for your replies guys. I would like to try the Blackhawk in each barrel length before buying, but have never seen a single action revolver for rent at any of the ranges in my area. I am leaning towards the 6.5" model as I do not intend to use it for much other than taking to the range...

I have a GP100 with a 4.2" barrel and really like it, but am considering buying a single action 357 revolver to use for target shooting. What are the merits of a 6.5" barrel vs. 4.62" barrel on the Blackhawk? I know the longer gun weighs more, but am not sure if the balance with be as good...
