These kind of slight variations occur all the time in SA's. There's a lot going on at the time. I'm guessing it's at least partly ammo related. Cheap ammo is very inconsistent in terms of powder charge and variations can cause all kinds of issues from stove piping to variations in ejection...

I can't believe this discussion is based purely on cost. What about the fact that I can load target match ammo for the same or less money than the garbage Winchester white box that you buy at Walmart that can barely hit a Coke can at 15 yards. To me, I need far more than a bang out of a bullet...

Another word for 'vintage' is usually 'junk'. If you want a better 1911 as a shooter, get a Range Officer or Gold Cup and get real performance for 1/3 the price of WW2 junk ! :D Other than nostalgia, those WW2 guns were garbage. REV
