The problem has NOT be repaired only the Ruger rings have been lapped out to line up - the machining lives on. If you put another set of rings on the firearm, they would still be misaligned and damage any rifle scope. The only way the problem could be addressed is with another mounting system...

Thanks Ed, I wonder how they will deal with a 23 year old rifle that has the improper machining right from the get go. Have you ever heard of such a machining error. It can't just be my firearm. Pete

Anyone have any info on misaligned machined grooves for front scope ring! My old M 77 has this problem according to my gunsmith. He has rectified the problem by lapping the rings and now a scope fits. I have already damaged 3 scopes peviously by bending or scoring them! Anyone know if RUGER...
