    Ruger American Predator 223 Remington...questions.

I don't know if that slight barrel-to-fore-end contact is "intended" or not, but I will say that it is pretty much universal in the economy line of rifles with synthetic stocks. I've seen it in Rugers, Remingtons, Savages, etc., etc. And I don't know that it's necessarily something that needs...

Poor buttstock fit on a new No. 1, but good customer service

Sounds to me like it's the dealer you should be put-out with. Maybe he felt he had to do the paperwork again -- but charging you a second time was voluntary.

Poor buttstock fit on a new No. 1, but good customer service

Why did it cost you more FFL fees? You can send a gun back to a manufacturer for repair and receive it back directly, no dealer needed because no transfer takes place.

    Ruger American Predator 223 Remington...questions.

Since you reload, you already know the best place to start -- in your manuals!

    Ruger American Predator 223 Remington...questions.

Honestly, you will get more, and more useful, answers once you try it out and determine if there are any problems to address. What works fine for mine might just be gosh-awful for yours.

Early (2007) Hawkeye - troubleshooting horizontal stringing

He may be right that the problem is the barrel. Whether or not it can be characterized as "bad" really depends on what he wants to use the rifle for. A hunting rifle you can count on for a consistently small 3-shot group is nothing to sneer at. In fact, a test I have frequently used for...

    How I Grip a Redhawk

The BS about "the proper way" to grip a handgun never ends. Fact is, the proper way is whatever is comfortable for you and allows full control of the gun.

    New Army 6.8 Cartridge

What I heard is they published a "proposal" for a rifle and ammo and solicited bids. I wouldn't hold my breath yet -- it's been done before.

Frame size on a Single Seven

Bingo. The weakest part of a cylinder is the thinnest part, and that's underneath the notches. Move the notch between chambers, add another chamber to the cylinder, and the remaining wall between chambers is still not as thin as the spot where the notch used to be.

What is a good resource for snub shooting?

The big secret to mastering any DAO revolver is dry firing. With the gun unloaded, pick a small target. Line up your sights then stroke the trigger through without pause or hesitation -- smooth, but quick. As you are doing this, focus on the front sight. At first, you will see the sight...

    Frustrated M77 owner

I agree that the rings supplied with new 77s are too high -- FOR THE SCOPES I USE. But for the scopes with ridiculous huge objectives that most folks seem to think necessary these days, they're just right. To me, most of the folks who think humongous scopes are needed are right in there...

    Bearcat fired out of battery

My fantasy is that one day all purchasers of new guns will treat the owner's manual as something more than just packing material...

Weelll, I might just be tempted on one like that, myself...

Strange SA Transfer Bar Conversion Question

Okay -- but what lies between a cocked Blackhawk and an unexpected firing except a 3-or-4-pound nudge of the trigger? Not a danged thing. Holstering and drawing come to mind -- I wouldn't recommend anyone doing either of those things with a cocked revolver. Tim is right -- carrying a cocked...

    1-A 30-06 Accuracy issues (random flyers w/handloads)

I love the No. 1, and a good one is a pure joy. But to be frank, they have never been known for their accuracy. In my experience, if you have one that shoots sub-2 MOA groups consistently, you are blessed. If you get one that shoots more like 3-4 MOA -- well, unfortunately that still falls...
