I see the thread has been resurrected so, here's an update. First, the title of the thread referenced the Ruger AR-556. I only put AR-556 because, this being a Ruger forum, I assumed everybody would know I was asking about the Ruger direct impingement AR (since, that's how Ruger markets it)...

This is for Ruger Redhawk and a Ruger 3 screw Super Blackhawk. The bullet: Berry's 220 grain standard plated flat point; max velocity (according the Berry's) = 1250 fps. Berry's website specifies to use cast bullet data for load data. I'm using 2400 powder. I cannot find 220 grain cast...

With a chest rig like that, a four inch barrel would be more practical. I never saw much use for a massive framed revolver behind a snub nosed barrel. But that's just me.

That's just the Vaquero line? Is it just the Birds Head Vaquero? Or are all Vaqueros similarly limited? Also, would the New Model Blackhawks be similarly limited on pressures for the 45 Colt?

Yeah, I figure that's what's going on. I also figure there must be some high spots on the breech face. That's a job for a smith. Recoil from hot loads reseats the primers to their proper depth.
