    Sold FA 97 44Special

Several years ago, I contacted Jack Huntington http://www.jrhadvancedgunsmithing.com/ about rechambering my FA97 .44 special to .44 magnum. After talking for a while he agreed to do it (wanted to make sure I wasn't going to be running hot rodded .44 mags thru the re chamber). The FA97s are...

    heavy bullets in 44 Special

RoninPAs data is for the .44 Magnum. It depends on what .44 special revolver the OP has Here's an article by Brian Pearce = the last load table (25K PSI loads) has H110 data for a couple of 300gr + bullets. https://www.handloadermagazine.com/44-s-w-special-p FWIW, Paul

    What kind of accuracy ?

A couple months ago, I loaded up some 300gr Miss Bul Co Hammers over 20.0gr of WW296 to test for accuracy in my 2 3/4" S&W M69 (5 shot L Frame .44 Mag). Wasn't happy with the load (about 4" at 25 yds rested), so I shot the rest double action standing using two hands at 7 and 12 yds. At 7 yds...

    38 supermags vs 9mm mags.

Rod, thanks for the info. My Colt 38 Super is a full size 1911. My 45 LW CMD is causing me all kinds of grief (sights, not function) and for whatever reason I don't/can't shoot it worth a darn and will go down the road shortly. The 9mm LW CMD will likely never see 9mm again, as its the...

    38 supermags vs 9mm mags.

I fitted an Ed Brown 9mm bbl to my recently purchased Colt 38 Super. My 9mm magazines (both Ruger & Tripp Cobra) won't function reliably, but the "Super" mags that came with the gun function flawlessly. Haven't tried them in Ruger 9mm LW CMD as it currently wears a Nelson Custom .22 conversion.

Exploring a new to me caliber.

I use magnum cases and deep seat the bullets to .44 special depth (front drive band below case mouth and crimp lightly or heavily depending upon the load). I use HP38 (Win 231) because it's what I have. Any of the commercially available 240gr cast SWC bevel base bullets will work -- you might...

    Heavy 454 velocity data

As mentioned above, "Wow" lots of good info here. Fairly signifcant velocity differences can/will result when using different guns (even with same barrel length). I've chronographed some (limited number) Underwood, Buffalo Bore, Double Tap and HSM. Veracity of velocity claims were pretty much...

    Montana Bullet Works

Complet satisfaction with the several orders I've made since the "new" Mt Bullet Works owners took over. Fast service and top notch product. I bought a ton of stuff from the Jennings when they owned it and I can't tell any difference. These are not blasting bullets, but rather high quality...

    .45 ACP advice

I've been using the ACME 200gr SWC coated .45s with good results. Unless I misread their website, the coated are the same price as the traditional cast/lubed. I order them 2,000 at a time. I've used HP38 to good effect, but am currently using WST (win super target). Here's a link to the ACME...
