14 Twist Swift and 60 Grain Bullets

I reread your post and you would like to use 60 grain bullets for deer. The information that I earlier posted was for Hornady 60 Grain which is not recommended for deer. But does give you an idea that the 220 swift can stabilize a 60 grain bullet. If I were to use the Swift on deer, I would try...

14 Twist Swift and 60 Grain Bullets

I have a Ruger tang safety 220 Swift, 26" varmint barrel, 6-20 Leupold scope, 1-14" twist, manufactured in early 1980's. I am looking at my notes from 1985. I have loaded several bullets and the 60 grain Hornady shot the best. April 1985: Using 60 grain Hornady. 100 yard group, .31" five shot...

Any Lipsey’s Ruger African 9.3x62 range reports?

Rifle used, 9.3x62 African purchased April 2011. The Lipsey version is pretty much a clone of this gun.

Any Lipsey’s Ruger African 9.3x62 range reports?

Use IMR 4064 powder, Hornady 286 grn bullets. 250 grn Accubonds , Imr 4350 powder. Prvi Partizan ammo shoots well. All of these combinations shot under 1 MOA. Speer 270 grn did not do as well. IMR 4064 seemed to be the best overall powder for me.

    6.5x55 ammo

Since my last post I have some information that answers my own question. I tried a couple of factory loaded cartridges and the Sellier&Bellot (sp) is economical and good performing ammo in the 6.5x55. I am presently handloading to find a good performing combination. Have thus far tried 7...

    6.5x55 ammo

Does anyone know of factory ammunition loaded for the 6.5x55 that has higher pressures for modern rifles. I am looking for 51000+ cup.

    Ruger#1 rifles for sale where?

I have not bought a Ruger #1 in several years. However there is a gun shop near me that might have some. Inquire at A.F. Boyer Hardware and ask or address your message to Allen. You can do a search and find the website or phone # is on the website. You might get lucky. A few years ago, I saw he...

New Ruger Hawkeye African in 9.3x62

I looked closer at the Lipsey's ad. It too has a twist rate of 1-10 inches. So, I guess Ruger is sticking to it's faster twist rate for the 9.3x62.

New Ruger Hawkeye African in 9.3x62

I wonder what the twist rate is in this Lipsey's 9.3x62. The barrel is advertised as 24". My older Ruger African 9.3x62, has an advertised twist of 10" with a 23" barrel. My gun shoots very well, under 1", and my heaviest bullets are 286 grains. Originally the 9.3x62 had a twist of 1 to 14.25"...

New Ruger Hawkeye African in 9.3x62

I have the Ruger African in the 9.3x62 from its first run several years ago. This is a fine rifle. Ammo has not been hard to find. Cheaper ammo from Previ Partizan works just fine and produces good brass for reloading. High end ammo from Nosler is available and they run specials from time to...

Ruger mark 2 vs tang saftey?

I must be lucky. I have an RSI 308 tang safety since the 80's, that shoots under an inch with my hand loads without any modifications. My 7x57 #1 shoots slightly more than 1" with not much load work up, heavier bullets seem best.

I generally like Ruger products, I hope they continue or improve their already fine products. I am reminded of an old saying, "Jack of all trades but a master of none."

RA Compact vs Standard, help me decide

I recently picked up a RA compact in a 7mm-08. My length of pull is getting shorter as I get older (arthritis). You can tweak the length of pull with recoil pads and remove them quickly for grandson or wife. Great cartridge with light recoil and good accuracy. I hunt now with ear muffs that help...

    ruger no1 in 22 hornet?????

I saw one in a local gun shop about four years ago. It was part of a private collection of about a dozen #1's. If I remember correctly, the asking price was $900 in like new condition.

Ruger American Predator 6.5 Creed velocity

I have access to shoot more than one mile at land owned by our club. Although I have never tried it. I did help a member set up to shoot at 500, 750, and a 1000 yards. I first calculated where the loads should hit using various tables. The results were eye opening, all loads shot lower than...
