Yes the guide rod and spring always had oil on it.
I removed the oil so the damage would show up better in the photo.
The new one is currently soaking in oil LOL
Despite my small problem with my sr9. I love the gun. I have over 1000k rounds threw it in a 2month time frame. I have never had one issue with it.
I think it's a very good solid gun to have as a home defense 17+1 and for a first time shooter like myself plenty of fail safes that will or could...
So I sent off the email last night. Got a reply today asking for my shipping address so they can send out a new recoil spring.
So I guess it was the photos that helped prove my case. :wink:

I was looking on rugers web page for an email address I could question this problem and send photos along with the email. I didn't come across an address that doesn't require a case number to be sent along with it. So with out a case number I can't send an email.

He too thinks it's either kevlar/carbon fiber not metal as suggested.
He doesn't see an issue with it either. :?
