Ok just spoke to my bro in law.. The priest brother (who passed) was a gunsmith! Im guessing Ranger Bob is correct and he re barreled his own gun to 6.5, stamped it and never stamped out the 243? In any case I'm bringing it to the gunsmith for probable casting.. Thanks everyone for your help...

You know now that I zoomed in on the photo and it looks like the 6.5 x was stamped in at a different time because the inlay does not match the 243 numbers! hmmm. My brother inlaw got this from a priest btw for 150!

Wow I knew something was wrong! It says Sturm Ruger & Co. on the Barrel. and 6.5 followed by a symbol that looks like an x then 243.. so it reads 6.5x243 Nowhere do I see wildcat. I took some pictures but i don't see how to load them. I will gladly email them to anyone who wants to look at...
