    MALL NINJAs

That was huge fun to read, but it was missing a very important mall ninja identifier. There was nothing about making nebulous statements about "When I worked for the government". Of course working for the government could mean being a clerk at the VA Hospital, but the mall ninjas are always...

    GP 100 38 Spec

Thanks for the tip! I am going to have to order one. I have been looking for a .38 Special only GP100 for IDPA for a while and that deal is too good to pass up!

Why buy a Threaded Barrel 22/45?

Yeah, I figured that there was only one reason to have a threaded 22/45. It took 163 days pending, but it was approved 2/29/12.

I've been bitten by the hand-loading bug...

Just a tip on the Classic Turret; if you are using the safety prime it works a whole lot better if you put a couple of washers under the bracket that mounts on the press that holds the safety prime. I had huge problems with the safety prime dropping primers on the floor instead of the cup until...

I've been bitten by the hand-loading bug...

I started handloading in 1994 to support my ever growing shooting habit. I was living less then three miles from a private range of which I was a member. I had a key and a lot of days off during the week, which meant I basically had the place to myself when I did most of my shooting. I shot A...

What do you shoot in your SP 101

I carry 158 grain Hydrashok or Gold Dot magnums.

    Convert LCR?

9mm Auto Rim already exists, or at least it did, as the 9mm Federal. The short lived Charter Arms Pit Bull used the cartridge and it was basically a rimmed 9mm+P. I had a couple of boxes of the ammunition I picked up on the cheap long ago when I was thinking about getting a S&W 940. I never...

Need a bullet to reload for the 41 mag

Try Missouri Bullet, they offer .41 cal bullets and have very reasonable prices, great service, and a quality product. www.missouribullet.com

Strength of Single Six 32 H&R

I got 1036 fps using 2400 and a 135 grain LFN in my 4 5/8" Single Six. No pressure signs, so I'm sure I could go higher, but I haven't had the chance to try yet. Once my group buy 115 grain Keith bullet mould arrives I'll be doing a lot more experimentation near the top end.

Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook, 4th Edition

I got a copy last week. I agree, not as much data as I was hoping. No .357 Maximum, no heavy bullet loads (over 100 grains) for .32 H&R or .327 Federal, not nearly enough data for .444 Marlin (I was hoping for data for the Lee 310 grain RFGC), the list goes on. It seems to be a good book, but...

    Which is best for CCW

Federal only claims 1240 fps for the 158 grain Hydrashok (presumably from a 4" barrel). That is about on par with the other major manufacturers 158 grain magnum loads. No doubt that the smaller specialty manufactures make more powerful ammunition, but that wasn't really my point. There seems...

    Which is best for CCW

I suppose that depends on what you consider "much better". I chronographed Federal 158 grain .357 Hydrashoks out of both my 2 1/4" and 3" SP101s, the results were not that different. 2 1/4" 1130 fps average 3 1/16" 1165 fps average FWIW, that is about the same difference I have seen with my...

    32 H&R Magnum 115 gr loads??

I've toyed with the 115 grain Gold Dot in my 4 5/8" Single Six a little bit. Most of that is on hold due to the lack of availability of the bullet, and I have never been able to find any load data for it in .32 H&R, so my experimentation has just basically been winging it. All these loads...

    Ruger SP101 vs S&W 632 in .327 Federal

Its a shame that the 632 Centennial doesn't actually seem to exist in real life, its a great looking little gun. I wish Ruger would offer the .327 SP101 with real adjustable sights in 3" and 4" versions and with normal fixed sights (no rear drift only notch) in a 2 1/4" DAO. I'd rather have a...

    2 1/4 or 3in SP 101

I couldn't decide on it, so I got both: I recently chronographed the Federal Hydrashok 158 grain out of both my 2 1/4" and 3" SP101s. It averaged 1135 fps from the 2 1/4" and 1165 fps from the 3". The Federal Classic 125 grain SJHP averaged 1293 fps from the 2 1/4", I haven't had a chance...
