I have a No. 1-V in .223 (133 serial number prefix = 1996 mfg) in excellent shape that has had a professional trigger job and free floating of the forearm by Dave Sullivan at Westwind Rifles in Erie, CO. The trigger is super crisp and breaks at about 2#. (I'll measure it when I get home to...
I just bought a beautiful Ruger #1-V in .223 that has a free floated barrel and a fantastic trigger on it (worked on by a well-known Boulder, CO gunsmith). I want to put decent glass on it for target practice and some varminting (coyotes to prarie dogs). Range not expected to be over 350-400...
I found a Mark 2 with the tapered 6 7/8" barrel in excellent shape (97%) with 1 mag, no box. What are those going for in your neck of the woods? Also, would the box add much to the price? I'd figure may $25 since it's not a rare model or anything. Let me know!
Ok, sounds like a consensus. It is actually listed at $420, but tax will bring that up to $450. Looks like I have to decide if I want to "buy it too soon," which is what I now call overpaying a little. Several other guns I bought too soon turned out alright...

Not to beat a dead horse, but all the USFA rodeos I've seen (at $549) have been flawless from a metal finish standpoint. And they are made here, with the same expensive labor. The USFA matte blue isn't my thing, but I guess that's where they save money over the dinged but well-blued Ruger...
I know that the new model vaqueros and the Lipsey's 44 special blackhawk have the indexing system for unloading so that it is easier to line up the chambers and eject empties (I forget what they call the system). Do the blackhawk convertible models have that too?
Tough choice. I have owned a couple GP's and really liked them. They seemed tough as nails, too. However, I have recently been drooling over a few flattop blackhawks and a Bisley Hunter, and think they are really great firearms. And, also as tough as nails. I'd say the only "practical"...
I knew I was being too obsessive about the ding/dent, so I went back, and discovered another one on the cylinder frame at the bottom edge. Again, these are tiny, and shouldn't matter. But like some of the other posters, I feel like things should be totally right when you shell out your hard...
