Thanks for replying-- yes, it is the safety/decocker model and, as you say, if I let the slide fly instead of softly releasing it, it will return all the way forward. I didn't think it did this when I was first checking it out, so I thought perhaps I'd messed something up or there was a defect--...

Further info: the slide will also return all the way if the hammer is pulled a bit further back, at which point if the hammer is released it will fall. Thanks again for any and all help
