    single six cylinder drag

thanks Hawkeye, I thought that it may be just the design. and..it's a .22 not one of my Colt .45's, so doing extensive $$ gunsmithing on it is just nuts. I did order a new bolt and trigger, so I'll put those in to see if the timing can be improved a little, but if not...I'll leave it alone...

    single six cylinder drag

Ok, I just checked and the bolt is clear of the frame when the loading gate is open, so it's not the spring. The bolt, while it locks up tight as a drum, releases too soon and causes a line in front of the notch in the cylinder. If the bolt would release later, that would help. I've ordered...

    shims

http://michigancenteroutdoors.com/ruger_single_action.html I just ordered a bunch of shims from trigger shims ez to fit and it tightened the gun up to brand new. I used the cylinder shim, hammer shim and while I did use the trigger/bolt shim, I also made a larger one from a stainless steel...

    bluing question

That answers my question , thanks. No solution, no bluing...of course! I use American Bluing solution. slow and produces a beautiful rust blue black that lasts forever. card with cleaned XXXX steel wool, put on solution, hang on a wire in humidity box with a bowl of hot water, 12 hours...

    bluing question

my Single Six project is coming to an end. and I'm going to rust blue the frame and barrel. I've done this many times before, but never with the barrel on. What do you use to plug the bore? Can't use lead, it will react with the American Bluing solution in the boiling water. cork...

Not too much smithing really and I'm no Sharps40 for sure.

more on the single six.... I ordered some shims and I really needed more width. so I went to the hardware store, cross pin in hand, and bought some washers, stainless, with the correct inside dimension. put them in a drill and ran against a sanding wheel to get the right width, a...

    Question for grip makers

don't think this is the easy part. go slow.... use a drill press and make sure you have it set for 90 degrees. leave enough under the screw thingy to have strength. do the frame angle first, then make sure it's tight and fits perfectly. you cannot go back here. use long set epoly...

Making a rust box for bluing

much too nice! HA. I use American bluing solution, a cardboard box with a wire hanger rigged across it. I hang the piece on a wire, then suspended from the wire in the box, and put a dish of boiling water under it. the cardboard box keeps it damp, and I've got amazing results on Colt...

    Stainless BlackHawk ejection issues

I have a bullseye style ejecting rod on order for my single six. much easier to pop them out. I have them on all my Colt SAA's. about$35 from Numerich. I would polish the cylinders, use a rag on a brush, attached to an electric drill, go slow...put some valve grinding compound on the...
