    Reloading the Blackhawk

It’s a bad idea. 1. How will you carry it while preventing the rounds from falling out? 2. It isn’t entirely safe. This is doubly so for a rimfire cylinder. If you drop it and it lands in such a way to strike a primer, it can go off and will shoot with fairly normal energy levels. 3. How much...

    1956 Blackhawk Price-NEW Pics Added

Good point! Something is off and the new (old) Blackhawk is apparently tighter than my other guns.

Sorry, kind of asleep at the wheel lately on the forum. It came in and it looks good in person to me. It’s a shooter/user rather than a museum piece, but that’s what it was purchased for. I replaced the rear sight blade and took it to the range. No problems zeroing with my 158gr LSWC reloads. I...

    New Mini-14 first time out!

They do a good job. I’ve had to send several things back and they have always taken care of the problem for no charge. It stinks to send something back but better safe than sorry. Probably a bad extractor, but they has the resources to throw parts at it.

    New Mini-14 first time out!

You should be concerned, but not overly. If it keeps doing it I would send it back to Ruger. If it only did it once or twice during break in with only one type of ammo, no worries. If you do have repeated problems and have to send it in, they will take care of you.

Thanks, I didn’t realize. My Lipseys flattop has no outline. I wonder if they have any of those blades left. I suppose a call may sort it out. Brownells also has blades for $11 shipped.

Thanks for everyone’s help! I’ve got the revolver on the way for $800. I need to order a rear sight blade. Ruger will not send one out unless it has been converted. I do have a new model flattop with the same barrel length and I could call them back and order a rear sight blade for it. On the...

Replacing rear blade on a 1956 Blackhawk

Thanks, I’ve got two daughters and they both make me proud. I ipdated my other thread but I figured I’d post here too. Pics came in and they are rougher than I thought. Any updated ideas on a fair price?

    1956 Blackhawk Price-NEW Pics Added

Update…the pics came in. It is a bit rougher than I thought. Any ideas on solid price? They are asking $900. It looks to me like the gun got wet and has some rust, as well as some chipping and light pitting. Not sure if this is a walk away kind of a deal or what a fair counter offer would be...

Replacing rear blade on a 1956 Blackhawk

Thanks for the tip. I’m still waiting on pics. The S/N is 30XX and it is not converted. I’m having a hard time finding an old model of any kind in decent shape. I have a line on a nearly new looking 1970 gun. It has a few booger marks on the grip frame where the screws go into the rear of the...

Replacing rear blade on a 1956 Blackhawk

Thanks for the advice. I’m looking for a shooter for my daughter. The situation is complicated by Ruger not making anything other than plastic, AR’s, and Wranglers over the past two years. She doesn’t want a new model unless it is the Lipseys flattop, and she would rather have an old model. The...
