    700X and 38 Special WadCutters

Just checked my loading records and found that my loads are close to yours. With the 158 gr. LaserCast SWC bullet I was using 3.6 gr. of 700X for a velocity of 830 f.p.s. I have no data for the 148 gr. because I had used a hollow base design and Green Dot powder. I also loaded the LaserCast 125...

    .44 Russian

A few years ago I found that my 44 spl. dies (RCBS) would not adjust far enough to seat bullets in my 44Russian. Obviously a crimp was not possible either. I was unable to located dies (cheaply) for the Russian, but found 44 special dies easily so I simply chucked the crimp/seater die in my...

Hornady 200 gr FTX .452 bullet for .45 Colt loads?

I think your on the right track. I have loaded this bullet with 10.0 gr. of Unique at just over 1000 ft./sec. In my Ruger 7 1/2" Blackhawk. Also have used 17.5 gr. of 2400 for around 1075 ft./sec. in the same gun. Both gave decent expansion at pistol ranges. Happy hunting.

    350 Legend soot

Another thought... Awhile back I was having this issue with a "soft" cowboy load in my 45 Colt. I learned two things and solved the issue. 1) my Dillon press sizes my cases slightly smaller than my RCBS dies do. Smaller cases add tension to the seated bullet helping to increase pressure. 2) a...

That's a cool old '64 second edition. Love reading these old loading manuals and the Herters is cool because it's rarely encountered these days. GLWYS

    Cowboy Special heads up

I may as well jump in with a few thoughts. I began cowboy action shooting in the early 1990s using .45 colt Blackhawks. My short barrelled Winchester 94 Trapper rifle (also .45 colt) only held 9 rounds and our club commonly set up for 10 shots, mandating a "load one more" for guys like me. Soon...
