    5 Foot 5 inch, carry a vaquero 4 5/8?

Same height and with a high ride pancake holster I can conceal an original Vaquero. If you aren't dead set on 4 5/8" and plow handle grip, allow me to suggest a New Vaquero with a birdshead grip and 3 3/4" barrel. It conceals on my frame with a high ride pancake or even a Tom Threepersons. I...

    Favorite Carrying Revolvers.

My EDC BUG revolver used to be an SP101 2.25" (used to back up my 1911). It still serves sometimes as my pajama gun. Nowadays my main EDC is a Talo Birdshead New Vaquero, SS in .45 ACP. It rides in a Tom Threepersons from Graveyard Jack. I normally open carry but the holster serves well for...

Speed loader for single action Colt 45........

7.62x39 stripper clips work for .357 Magnum and .38 Special. That's how I have all of my rounds of that caliber stored. It's more convenient than having them loose or in boxes, IMHO. Good tip on the Mosin Nagant stripper clips. I'll pass that one along to my son as well.

Speed loader for single action Colt 45........

It's practical for the .45 ACP revolvers so I can't see why it wouldn't be for the .45 Colt revolvers. Then again, if my son tries it with his .45 Colt, I'll know for sure as my experience has only been with my EDC in ACP. I would be concerned about scratching a blued gun (like the OPs) too...

Speed loader for single action Colt 45........

Good to know, Mus408. I carry a .45 ACP Vaquero + 1911 magazine everyday and my son wants to carry his .45 Colt Vaquero instead of his plastic 9mm when we spend time together. He's been looking for a magazine as a speedloader to carry or keep in his backpack. I'll pass the information along to him.

I hope so, Chet15. I really like Rugers so I want success for Ruger's line of products.

    Ruger/Lipsey's Quality Falling Fast ?

It does seem to me that something is not right at Ruger these days.

I'm starting to lose a little confidence in Ruger

CLARIFICATION: I think I see where some might be confused. I've mentioned "cylinder binding", "transfer bar binding", and just binding. The cylinder binding was an old issue due to improperly cut cylinders. The transfer bar binding is where the transfer bar or hammer has too much material and...

I'm starting to lose a little confidence in Ruger

Oh... if one were to put the bottom frame screw that retains the hammer pin in the top (left I believe) backstrap screw hole, they might experience the binding that I did. ;) I wouldn't recommend anyone trying it.

I'm starting to lose a little confidence in Ruger

This latest binding problem was my doing. I didn't mean to leave the impression that the latest binding was in any way Ruger's fault. I knew that I probably had something assembled improperly. I had been trying for a significant amount of time to get in touch with someone at Ruger to see if they...

If Ruger was designing a single action for CCW

Like another had already posted... it's on my hip. A Talo Birdshead New Vaquero in .45 ACP. It's stainless and has a 3.75" barrel. The ejector rod works fine. The only thing I might have suggested was cut down the cylinder and frame for .45 ACP only. However, that would be unreasonable from a...

I'm starting to lose a little confidence in Ruger

Praise Jesus, I got it! I had a screw in the wrong hole. It works pretty good. Now it's time to learn about the transfer bar binding fix and see if I can do it. I'll do a good cleaning while I have it apart this next time. At least I'm learning how to disassemble and reassemble this revolver. I...

I'm starting to lose a little confidence in Ruger

Okay, check this out. The transfer bar came in today. I disassembled the revolver and reassembled it with the new transfer bar. The revolver binds. I called Ruger only to get dumped out of the queue. I called back and waited again on hold. I finally got to speak with someone. She insisted that I...
