I used coarse sandpaper to smooth off most of the protrusions on the Hogue grip on my GP-100. Be careful not to take off too much, I started to expose a little of the under stuff on the back strap area.
Rule of thumb - Medium crimp on revolver rounds. Heavier crimp on lead bullets. Lighter crimp on plated bullets.
I always crimp and post size the round in a separate last operation. That is what the Lee 'factory crimp die' is for.
Nothing wrong with seating and crimping at the same time.
I have both a 96-44 and a 99-44. Both are great guns, handy and hard hitting. The 96-44 will shoot anything that will fit in the magazine. The 99-44 likes full power ammo. Federal or Winchester 240gr loads work fine. If you reload be sure you go with a full 240gr load and a copper jacketed bullet.
Are they possibly talking about a primer backing out from not enough powder in a cartridge. That can jam up a gun. I have seen that most often when a primer only is used to shoot a blank or wax bullet.
I remember reading many articles about Lilgun delivering high velocity and lower pressure but that it was responsible for forcing cone and throat erosion. I made a note to myself to leave it alone. I use H-110 and Accurate #9 for max loads in 357 and 44 magnum and I shoot them in both revolvers...
Good grief!!! Would you guys want your doctor using old manuals to tread your diseases today?
It is amazing what people collect. ...and I guess it doesn't hurt to have some history and I never like to throw things away and in fact I think I have got all my old manuals as well. ....nevermind...
When you start experimenting like that there is really no good way to measure the pressure you are developing in the chamber.
I tried a similar project with heavy and long bullets in the 357mag levergun and got some pretty good loads but you just can't be sure what is happening exactly. Better...
Oh, that is really interesting, thank you. I guess they are going to have to make some new bullets for the round and that is really going to limit acceptance for sure.
Thanks to everyone else that posed information. :D
What I find interesting about this new cartridge is that it is like a 357max and is available in the AR platform as well as the standard bolt-action platform. The cost of a Ruger American rifle or others in 350 LGND would make this more attractive than the 77-357 which I always thought was a...
I have tried them and that site is just as confusing as the Federal site. It is very difficult to get side by side comparisons of two or more cartridges. In fact with the Hornady site you have to wait a long time for the whole cartridge page to load and then filter out the ones you want to look...
I use to be able to bring up several different cartridges and their ballistics including, velocity, energy, bullet drop etc. from the Federal website but since they have upgraded their website it seems impossible to do that.
Does anybody have some comparisons for the 350 Legend to like 300 BO...
