Not trusting myself to take a file to the hammer without screwing it up, and not knowing
of a local gunsmith I would trust to do the work properly, can someone recommend a shop that can make this hammer/gun work. I bought it for SASS matches so would really like to keep the low spur hammer,
Yeah. I had someone do the swap for me. Took him 3 hours. I will see if he is willing to put it back. If that solves the problem I will probably sell the gun.
I recently purchased a .357 new Vaquero from an estate. From all indications it had never been fired. I swapped in a SBH hammer . On my first trip to the range I started having a number of misfires from what I assumed were light hammer strikes.

I never fired it before switching out the hammer. I bought two that were on consignment from an estate. Neither showed any sign of having been fired much, if at all. One had the Blackhawk hammer and the other didn't. I decided I wanted the lower hammer on both, so I got someone from the club...
OK, the springs I got were cheap enough that it is not worth the shipping to send them back.
Does anyone offer a heavier spring (19-21 pounds) for the New vaquero?
I recently picked up a pair of New Vaqueros for Cowboy action shooting in .357. First think g I did was swap in Super blackhawk hammers ( a common mod for cowboy shooting). Unfortunately one of the guns gets light primer strikes (about one round in 5) with both CCI and Winchester primers...
