    Max 9 Ammunition

I have tried out the Hornady Critical Defense Lite in my LC9 and have seen no function issues. Certainly less snappy than regular 9mm rounds but maybe a bit more so than the 380 LCPmax. YMMV Etc. Jerry

    Ruger’s 75th Anniversary Guns

Choices, choices. I was never on the fence, and thus did not hesitate to "fix" the magazine disconnect with a hammer and bushing from Volquartsen. You pays your money and you takes your choice. Enjoy it either way. Jerry

    75th Anniversary .22 pistol

To address my own question - I now have a Mark IV 75th anniversary model and the "oversized" rounds from 2013 that do not chamber in my MK II target do chamber readily in the MK IV 75th target model. Of the 50 or so rounds I tried they all chambered and 80 to 90% fired! The duds would not fire...

    75th Anniversary .22 pistol

My question is: what chamber will these 75th anniversary models have? My MK II target has a tighter chamber than my other Marks. I discovered this with some Super X 22lr purchased during the panic of '13. They would not chamber in the MK II target even with extra force on the bolt. They do...

    Wtt contender barrels

My 30/30 barrel is the 14 inch. 10 inch might be pretty noisy unless you reload for it. I have used the 160 grain leverlution in mine, but not recently. Jerry

Ruger MK IV 22/45 Smithing my Field Gun

Excellent report on your process. One small point in favor of the aftermarket route, which I have used, is that in theory the gun can be returned to original by me. Though that's likely to never happen. Enjoy the result of your work! Jerry

My new Marlin/Ruger Classic .44 Mag

Jim, From the 'Marlin' web page, "Barrel is made of alloy steel and is cold hammer-forged which results in ultra-precise rifling that provides exceptional accuracy and longevity". So I infer that its not Micro Groove and is Rugers normal rifling process. Regards, Jerry...

New Mark IV Stainless Range Report

Rick, I think the Mark IV with the 22/45 style grip frame might solve your sighting issue as they are more 1911-like. It used to be a general recommendation that to improve ones 1911 shooting, get a Ruger 22/45 with a Volquartsen trigger kit for practice. Good luck. Jerry

Your Opinion Mark II or Mark IV

I believe the answer is yes though I only have one MK IV. See www.wirthweinguns.com under frame info. And my opinion is the MK II and MK IV are both good options. I put the Volquartsen kits in mine and I prefer the 22/45 style frames. Enjoy your choice (or try both)! Jerry

    Ruger American Ranch 7.62x39

Mine has a Nikon 3-9x40 Matte BDC. Worked fine on the one whitetail I used it on. Jerry

    Magazine question:

Hello TLC, Is there an advantage to using the AR-type mags in the 7.62x39? Other that availability? Real question is do they work better. I don't recall any operational issues with the mini-30 in the bolt gun(RAR) but haven't used it recently. Thanks. Jerry
