    What's So Golden? Years?

We are in the same boat. It will be 53 years in August and we do everything together. I have gone on a couple short fishing trips and I hunt on her family farm most years with her brother. We just got back from a short trip to western KS to check in on some friends, he has Alzheimer's and...

Just got the call I've dreaded for the past few years

Not to be morbid but I took care of my father in his later years, he passed a couple years ago at 92. Knew a ton of people in his day. Two interesting things - one is he abandoned us 4 when I was in the 3rd grade. Then later we connected and I end up taking care of the person who abandoned me...

Just got the call I've dreaded for the past few years

Long time friends, and especially that many is rare and to be applauded! Sorry for your loss. I have a friend in western KS whose Alzheimer's is getting worse according to his wife who just had back surgery. We will make some time available to see him so neither of us has any regrets in the future.

A Buc-ee’s may be Coming to your State (if you are lucky)

Been to them while driving through Texas. The store itself is amazing, has everything EXCEPT NO diet Pepsi. Didn't eat the food, picked up some snacks and if you are souvenir hunter I suppose it is paradise. Pumps as far as you can see on the curved horizon but the prices the times we frequented...

    Me & my woman

My wife's graduation picture in 1973, we married the next August, 2nd picture, 3rd is our 40th when our two kids who live out of state surprised us. It will be #53 coming up in August. Yes, I did marry up, there is no question about that. Besides being absolutely gorgeous at age 70, she is the...

A new sigh at my Vets office

I worked 39 years in education as a teacher and administrator. As a public school principal it is almost seen as a "right" to march in and rip the teacher or me up one side and down the other without knowing what is going on. I had several ways of handling these events, depending on the...

    Church Security

I don't know what our numbers for people carrying would be but not likely 50%. In that case of having 50% I am not sure more is better. I have come to the conclusion that churches should have one main entrance, no matter how busy, trained people to NOT greet but to just watch and know what to...

    Church Security

I am part of our church security team. It is a very complicated situation in our case. First, the insurance company discourages it and then they have their requirements that are ridiculous. One is your local police department has to approve and sign off on your plan. I called the police and they...

    Funny things wives buy.

I had to chuckle at some of these responses. My wife grew up on a remote farm in NW Kansas where the jack rabbits had to pack a lunch. Her parents were very frugal with everything but good overall managers and none of the 6 kids went without. When I started dating my later to be wife, one...

    Ruger

While it is always fashionable to blame the MBA, bean counters and profits, there is a greater reality at play. The number of new firearms entering the market is staggering. They come from the Philippines, Turkey, Checz Republic and others by the ship loads. US labor is more expensive along...

France: Hospital Evacuated After Doctors Find Live WWI 8” Artillery Shell in Patient’s Rectum

Many years ago, a friend who worked as a receptionist in ER in a small town in western KS shared a weird story. Apparently a guy came in and said he had a problem, something was stuck up his but and he could not get it out. At this point she had no idea what that could be but she had to ask more...

Anyone have the Aquablation for the prostate?

I had the Uro Lift about 3 years ago and it worked great until recently when I started having problems again. So the doc scoped everything out, literally, and he showed me that my prostate is kind of like a volcano on the end and said I really only have one option. I have the pamphlet and have...

I was looking at new TV's but am not sure this is the one I want.

The problem I had with CR was their reports were good and accurate but I could never find the exact model they were testing. I would try to match the numbers to no avail. I have come to the conclusion that an inexpensive TV from Walmart like a Hisense or whatever they are, will do quite nicely...
