Firing Pin problem with Vaquero ?

I think they are designed to do this to people in Bulgaria who fan them. If they weren't, they should be.

    TV Western grips

I want a pair of the cheap plastic ones exactly like are on Matt Dillon's gun in the closing shots on the old Gunsmoke show during the credits. Actually, I don't care if they are cheap plastic or not, but I like that look with more light colored material showing and the dark lines thinner. The...

    Ajax Grips out of business

Well, I always had very good success with their products, and their service was first rate. I called some years ago to see about buying some screws and escutcheons, and they sent me some free. I liked their fake ivories because they did not change color. I bet I have bought 20 pairs from them...

new blackhawk, how to remove internal lock?

Well, I guess I am really going to hell for eliminating the cross bolt safety on my Marlin with one of Mr. Ludwig's wonderful cross bolt safety eliminators. I didn't like it, and it's my gun, and damn any lawyer that doesn't like it. I don't consider locks a safety device anyway, and since...

    VAQUERO 45LC 7 1/2" vs New Vaquero?

Well, I got a 50th Anniversary 44 and I hate the old style XR3 grip frame. I never had a problem with my Vaquero 44s, even with the heaviest loads, but this new one bites the heck out of me with anything approaching heavy loads.

    Super Blackhawk grip

I hate Bisleys. The XR3 is too small with stout loads. I can live with the XR3-REDs. The SBH Dragoon grip busts my knuckle. The Hunter is perfection. Now all I need to do is decide if I want to sell my 50th Anniversary 44, which is very accurate, or get a Hunter grip frame grafted on it and...

Could Ron Powers or ??? make a tougher transfer bar?

If you start different making parts harder, where are you going to move the "weak" link to? Every mechanism has one. In my opinion Flatgate has the correct solution. Everybody associated with CAS thinks the number one thing everyone should do is dry fire their revolver a zillion times, and...

What is going on with Ruger's Quality Control?

You have captured the essence of the problem, but to those in charge it isn't a problem. A $5 million severance for resigning ! I wouldn't see a problem either I don't guess. Harvard and the rest of the business schools quit teaching ethics, and here we are. And Toyota has bought in to the...

What is going on with Ruger's Quality Control?

As long as Ruger will fix any problems, I won't have a problem buying their guns. They love to pour over numbers so sooner or later some junior bean counter will realize that the current set up is not maximizing profit. Or, maybe it is, I really don't know. I haven't been in a burn down hurry...

    44 spec vs 44 mag

I don't think Boyle's Law can be applied to hydraulics Driftwood. :D It the same comparison as 38 Special (non +P) and 357. You can have a smaller lighter gun in 44 Special caliber. You can shoot light loads out of the Magnum gun. Why can't I have a 44 Special New Vaquero?

    Vaquero frame

Boy, the difference in the hammers really jumps out at you in that picture.

Ruger 50th Anniversary .44 Magnum Blackhawk at the range

I have been really happy with the accuracy on mine, too, but man that XR3 grip beats me up. I am thinking as soon as I come into some money I am going to get a Hunter grip frame put on it. It is my only adjustable sighted 44 Magnum revolver now. My Vaquero 44 is okay with hot loads, but I...

    splane this to me Lucy

I had the swap done on my 357 Blackhawk and kind of liked it. Ruger threw in a full polish and reblue for the price of doing the swap and it looked great. Bought a Super 44 and that square triggerguard killed me with hot 44 loads. Live and learn.

Blackhawk (.357mag) 50th Anniv. vs Blackhawk

The 50th model has an XR3 grip frame as opposed to and XR3 RED grip frame, and it is built on a smaller cylinder frame as well; the same as the New Vaquero except with adjustable sights, and of course it has the flat top configuration. The plastic grip panels cover up Rugers new integral lock.

    Vaquero - Front Sight Adjustment

Everyone says don't bent the front sight. Why? Have you got the tools like a frame wrench to properly turn the barrel? No, so a trip to the gunsmith is in order. Doesn't sound much different to me than having to get the sight replaced if it should come out. And I have (very carefully) bent...
