I didn't slug the bore and I didn't use any pin gages, The only gages I used were .452 bullets. The gun seemed to shoot just fine but I couldn't push a bullet through the cylinder bores. I couldn't drive a bullet through with a small hammer and punch. I knew that couldn't be good so I rented...
I visit rugerforum.net frequently and have read Iowegan's posts. He is brilliant and certainly knows his stuff. However, rugerforum.net went through some changes a few years back and no longer accepts my password and all my attempts to register a new password have failed. I think what I have...
Since I posted my inquiry I did some checking. My acp bullets are plated and measure .451. They will push through both the acp cylinder and the colt cylinder. My lead bullets that I use for 45 colt measure .452 and will not push through either cylinder. For the lead bullets it seems the...
I can't push bullets through the cylinder throats on my BH 45 convertible. I'm thinking about renting a reaming tool with pilot bushings to size the throats on the 45 colt cylinder to .452. Should I also ream the 45acp cylinder?
I LIKE HAMMER DROP SAFETIES. Most morons can't figure out how they work so if my gun is ever taken away from me I have time to react before the bad guy figures out how to make it fire.
I'm thinking about trying some Underwood 357 mag 180 gr lead flat nose ammo for hiking with. Will this ammo be too hot for my Security Six or my S&W 66 (pre lock)? The Security Six is a rugged pistol, is there any Underwood ammo that would be too hot for it?
I see grips for the Redhawk square butt but it's my understanding that the .45 colt/.45acp model is a round butt. I couldn't find any grips for round butt Redhawks. This would be Ruger model 5032.
I've been out of the loop lately in keeping up with what's going on in the gun world. I also haven't had any luck searching the internet. I'm wondering if Hogue or Pachmayr makes grips for the Redhawk .45 Colt/.45 acp? I can't access the Pachmayr website and I didn't find anything on the...
I am reloading .357 mag 158gr. JHP. The bullets I'm using are Speer 158gr. JHP #4211 and Hornady HP XTP #35750.
I'm using H110 powder with CCI 550 mag primers.
Load data for H110 in the Hornady 9th edition lists a min. load of 12.7gr and a max of 15.6gr.
Speer manual #14 lists a min. of...
This happens with both the S&W Governor and the Taurus Judge. The problem isn't with the gun, it's with the ammo. You have to use high quality American made .410 ammo or you will have extraction problems. I haven't had any issues using Federal or Winchester .410 ammo.
Another safety feature of the SR9 is the magazine safety. If the trigger is pulled after the magazine is removed the gun will not fire. Just another added safety feature when clearing the gun. Some people don't like magazine safeties but I like redundancy when it comes to safety.
Thanks for the advice. My Ruger only loads will be clearly marked so I don't get them confused. I wouldn't want to blow up the Governor. The weight of the Governor makes it easy to pack but I never shoot 410's. I'm tempted to trade it for a .45 Colt Redhawk.
Thanks for the links. I have reloading manuals from Lyman, Hornady, Speer, and Sierra but loads in .45 Colt for that particular type and weight bullet are hard to find.
