    Can I shoot a "fast" 44 Special load in a 77/44?

I spoke with one of the reloading tech support guys at Hogdon and was told by him that our load should be totally safe and detonation has never been confirmed. His reply was, if it is working well and we are happy with the performance, we should keep doing it. He said there is no safety concern...

    Can I shoot a "fast" 44 Special load in a 77/44?

It actually turned out that we are using 15.5 grains of H-110 to achieve 1050 FPS. Maybe the recommendation from Hogden is for normal loads and not sub-sonic. Anyway, it works great for us. We have shot hundreds of rounds through our 2 suppressed 44's with no problems at all. Randy

Maybe I'm wrong. It could be 18.5 grains instead. I'll have to ask Gerald since he is the re-loader and I am simply the helper. Sorry. Randy

    Can I shoot a "fast" 44 Special load in a 77/44?

In our suppressed M77/44 rifles, we use 300GR. Hornady XTP bullets with 16.5 grains of H110 powder to achieve 1050 FPS sub-sonic loads. We have killed hundreds of hogs with these loads out to 80 yards. After 80 yards they begin to drop rapidly. They are very quiet and very deadly. Randy

    77/44 Accuracy

We have 2 of them that we use with NV for hog hunting and they both shoot 1" groups at 50 yds. The gun should for sure shoot better than it is. Keep trying and you will find the problem. Randy

    Question about Ruger 44 Carbine????

I have a carbine and 2 lever actions. I like the lever guns much better. They shoot better also. Just my opinion. Randy

    Ruger Model 77/44

We use one that is suppressed for our hog hunting guide service and it shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards. What a great gun. Randy

    Wanted info on the 96/44

I too have 2 96/44's and I love them. They both shoot quite well. They are my favorite guns. $400 for a good condition one is a real bargain. Randy
