    medium frame 41 Mg.?

Groo here The 41 mag is darn near perfect for the "357" frame ruger... My "Poor man's Keith No 5" shoots so well I could want for little else. The Mondago is just about a perfect PPP. Like the 44 mag or 454 , the 41 has little need for super heavy bullets [ and I have an SSK 295gr mold] The...

What is the best bear gun?

Groo here If defense is the thing . You will most probably be fighting from your back.[bear are that fast] So , as Cooper said , a 357 mag snub with armor piercing load.[aka non expanding /fmj/hard cast not plated bullet at full pressure] Place under chin , in ear or eye and pull trigger.....

Need GP100 10mm cylinder length with case chambered.

Groo here Just checked my Gp100 WC 3in. With Remmington 180 gr fmj green box.. Length of cylinder with loaded round seated [ with and without clip] is 1.65 in. Bare cylinder is 1.55+. The max oal of the 10mm mag is 1.555 so your biggest problem is enough bullet in the case for good bullet...

    3 inch barreled 1911's

Groo here I have a 3 1/2 officers and a 3 in compact and have found no problems,,,BUT... As the barrel gets shorter the bullet speeds go down, therefore , the more likely I will use mil-spec 230 gr fmj. I am old enough to remember when your auto TOLD YOU what load IT wanted and that is what...

    all around carry gun?

Groo here The smaller revolver is NOT harder to CCW once you realize that you don't try to "hide" the gun as much as you make it look like something else. The barrel and grip are/can be thinner/smoother than an auto [they have sharp/square edges] It is only the cylinder that is thicker and...

    medium frame 41 Mg.?

Groo here I have 2... Andy Horvath made them from a 357 Mondago and a 357 Bisley , both SS. The cylinders are able to take any factory length bullet [ 1.60in] and they shoot like a house a-fire........ The thing is,, why try to shoot super heavy bullets [260=295] when normal [210 to 230]...

    Bear Defense gun

Groo here According to my instructer at Thunder Ranch, he was from Alaska and wrote the book for the oil companies [ yes , the actual book!] Your handgun is to get you back to your long gun, and your guns are to shoot the animal off your friend. The animals move so fast that the target can't...

    Holding a revolver when shooting

Groo here Many confuse "roll" with "slip". Slip means the grip moves in the hand requiring you to adjust. Roll is the flexing of the wrist combined with the lifting of the forarms. The grip should be tight enough to stop slip. Roll [ in magnums] usually can't be stopped ,it does need to be...

    .41 Mag Vaquero?

Groo here Making a 41 on the New Vaquero frame is easy. Get a 41 barrel or blank, bore out the cylinder [ from 357] , mount barrel and your done. As a hint as the barrel will be replaced, any length 357 will work. [I didn't need to get a Mondago , any barrel length would work.] This will save...
