    Ruger revolver for Bear hunting?

Yep, but whose definitions will we use? My father was a WWll vet, Master Sergeant, and he called the thing holding bullets in an 1911, a clip. I bet if you are in a gunfight and your partner says I am out of ammo throw me a clip, are you going to argue about the nomenclature used? gramps

    Not "Hunting"!

The Cervid Center in Durango, Colorado has 1800 acres fenced with a breeding program to develop Elk that are resistant to Chronic Wasting Disease(CWD). Every year they cull some, others with fantastic racks are tranquilized and the racks removed to keep the bulls from injuring each other. PETA...

    Ruger revolver for Bear hunting?

I took a .44 mag Red Hawk 4.2” barrel to Alaska for bear and moose protection. It was stuffed with 300 gr LWFN over some 2400. It shot good. Never had to use it for its intended reason. The only bear I saw were in the Anchorage zoo. Moose were very common in Anchorage streets. I didn’t have to...

    Ruger revolver for Bear hunting?

Yep, I have been hand loading since 2004 in the .44 mag, and since 2018 for the .45 Colt. I haven’t missed any shooting due to the lack. Good luck! gramps

Bear Biologist has been on this forum for many years, discussing bears, RUGER guns, and knives. Peachhead, can you say the same? gramps

    Hunting pop cans

I love reactive targets. Clay pigeons are cheap. Hitting them at 25 yds with a handgun is satisfying!!! Old soda yessss!!! gramps

    Hunting question

I have a large aperture peep sight on my Redhawk. When fur is seen fully in the sight, I am sure I will hit the bear somewhere. Lol It is for self defense only. I can hit reasonably well at 15 yds on paper, I will bet at 7 yds or less, I will hit something important. My first .22 rifle was a...

    Poachers get worldwide hunting ban!!

Feel good rulings!!! Poachers broke the law to begin with, what will stop them in the future? Surely not a law. I think the poachers should be executed, after all, tit for tat? Wasn’t their first rodeo, so to speak! gramps

Reliable Carry Ammo for the LCP Max

At present I am using Sig Sauer Elite Performance ammo. My first 2-3 rounds are HP, all other ammo is FMJ. I have used Gold Dot, Federal(post in the middle), Hornady etc with no problems in either my Gen 1 LCP or my Max. gramps

    My Woods-Carry Choice

My woods gun is a Charter Arms Bulldog .44 spcl. Because it is light weight, accurate, has a significant caliber that is straight walled, and I reload for it. The biggest threat on the Highland Rim here in middle Tn is the occasional black bear. I have been bluff charged, though usually they...

    Ruger LCP Max: Pocket Carry

I pocket carry mine in a well made leather pocket holster. Originally the holster would ride up over the mag release and cause the magazine to release. I cut out enough leather to stop that. To carry it in the small clamshell plastic case I had for the Gen 1, I have to remove the magazine. I...

What is the best bear gun?

When I was in Kotzebue, and Barrow, Alaska, I carried a 4.2” barreled Redhawk .44 magnum stuffed with 310 gr LFN over 19 gr H110. I shot it at the target range in Barrow. Never needed it for Bear. gramps
