Important information on the Ruger SP101 327 Federal.

Only way to tell is “chute it!” Yes! Ruger will take it in for inspection. If necessary, they’ll replace cylinder. My Single-7 needs to go back, but I’m loathe to separate at this time of year. It’s my favorite belt holster gun.

    .30 carbine loads?

My favorite target/plinking load is 11.8gr of #2400 under a Lee 93gr RN (6-cav mold!) powder coated and sized .311”. It throws the brass 45deg to the rear and 3’ into a nice pile. Most accurate load from my ‘43 S.G. w/8/43 Underwood bbl. Not very accurate however. 4.5” at 50yds. For hunting/sd...

Uberti Schofield .38 Point of Impact Problems.....

I think if you look closer, you’ll see that the military FMJ .38Spec is in fact 130gr. not 158gr. This WILL cause most fixed sight .38’s to shoot low. If the ammo is USAF PGU-88B ammo, it was loaded HOT (1,125fps) and will shoot REAL low. Try some 148gr wadcutter or 158gr non-+P. Should shoot...

Compare 350 Legend with other Balistics

There is a lot of discussion on another forum over the .355” vs .357-8”. General agreement is that it’s a .355”. SAAMI drawings are labeled .355”- (+).003” which suggest you need to measure your bore. Measured ammo shows Winchester using .355” bullets. re: trajectory differences; the Legend...

    45 Colt and 2400 powder.

#2400 is my most used powder. I buy it in 8lb kegs. Georgia Arms even used to use it in their “Deer Stopper” loads. (Proprietary brass, Federal SPM primer, 15.5gr #2400, 158gr JHP). I use it in .357mag, .41mag, .44mag, .45LC -Ruger only loads, cast bullet loads in cast-bullet rifle loads. The...

I’m gonna work up a load for my Ruger Ranchrifle

Grafs has Hornady 62gr PTSPT-BT for less than $100/1000. These are good for ANY reasonable use for your MINI-14. A friend had a first run Ranch Rifle that had the 1/10”twist of all the early mini’s. It was easily the most accurate mini I’ve ever shot. With a Nosler 55gr BT over 24.0gr of H322...

When can we expect a Ruger 6.8mm

The military looking into a new 6.8 isn’t a rumor. A large grant was issued to 5 manufacturing concerns to develop weapons systems and submit samples for testing/evaluation. The 5 are FN, ATK, H&K, PCP, and a fifth I’m not familiar with and can’t remember. For the personal weapon, it’ll be...

    New Starline rifle brass

I too really liked the 225gr Hornady in the .375Ruger. Kinda like a 150gr in an ‘06. Found a superlative accurate load with Reloader15, that’s a bit under max. I keep the rifle in case they clone a T-Rex! Too much except for maybe “Hogzilla”. But it puts deer down RIGHT NOW. Fortunately I...

Ruger 77-22 in 22 Hornet twist rate

Yes, both I’ve had/have, have 1/14” twist barrels. I’ve gotten stability up to 55gr flat base bullets. My favorite load is 12.5gr Hodgdon Lil’Gun under a Sierra 40gr Varminter Hollow Point. Gets 3,000fps from my 24”bbl M77/22Hornet KBZ. The Carbine I had, had a terrible chamber. Like it was...

    Bullets for 327 Federal Magnum

Lee 113gr FNGC. 10.0gr #2400. My go-to load for the .327. Stout enough for any use. Not too much for small game. Remarkably accurate.

My M77 Hawkeye African is in .375 Ruger. With previous original owner, it made the trip to Africa. Took an assortment of plains game including two Cape Buffalo.

Confounded by my new rifle 338AI

If the barrel is marked “AI”, then it’s most likely an Ackley Improved. It Should have a 40deg shoulder. You should also be able to fireform factory.338/06 ammo (should you find some). Most likely two dies are the complete set. I don’t know what the third die would likely be. You should be...

Confounded by my new rifle 338AI

I’m still not sure of, or convinced you know what you have. Why do you think you have a .338/06 Ackley Improved? Is barrel marked .338/06AI ? Do you have a fired case? I have a custom barreled MkX action in .338/06. It has the standard 17deg30sec shoulder of the parent.30/06 case. (The Ackley...
