Not a Ruger But One Hell Of a Pistolie

Yep! I'd own one or two of those pistols if I could have scraped together the money back then. I fell in love at first sight. Alas I was poor back then and only doin fair now. As I remember you had to set the cylinder gap and then tighten the outer housing. Seems to me they were also labeled...

    Lee Factory Crimp Die Question

Well then I can't quite figure out were that crimp came from on them 357's I just rolled. You can set it for anything from a very light to a really heavy crimp. I picked up the die for everything I load. I really like em a lot.

    Can't get scales to zero...

Standard practice with setting up my RCBS 10 10 is to set up the scale and zero the weights and then adjust the leveling screw until the scale is zeroed. The I beam when balanced at zero will be perfectly level. You then level the rest of the scale with the I beam.

What's written on a mail order box of gun powder?

That is the labeling BUT it will come UPS NOT USPS as they won't handle stuff like that. Tell them IF they ask that it's some oil base paint you ordered or some such stuff like that. Don't act suspicious and they will most likely not even notice.

    Lee Pro 1000 indexing/priming problem

As an ex-owner of two Pro 1000's I'll see if I can help a bit. As was mentioned earlier, make sure that everything is tight. There are some excellent videos on the Lee site so check them out also. The discription on the shell plate timing adjustment is somewhat wanting in the insructions. Most...

    Carry Ammo, reloads or factory

I don't have a problem with using my hand loads for carry. They are loaded from published data with bullets that are also available in factory loads. I personally think the whole argument about using factory vs hand loads is blown way out of reasoning.

    Primers!?

I am only requoting what I have read about 296 as far as under charging is concerned. I've used it quite a bit and don't have a problem with it. If you stay within the margins of the data it is a great powder. Actually I was really only answering the man's question about compressed powder...

Trying to load up on reloading supplies

I'm glad I'm not the only one that smells FISH! Somehow the whole thing doesn't quite add up for me anyway.

    Primers!?

Simply put, the bullet compresses the powder in the shell. It is much more common in rifle cartridges than pistol. Winchester 296 has a narrow operating range in pistol use anyway. The Speer #10 shows 19.6 min and 21.6 as max. This is a fairly old manual. Under charging of 296 as I have read can...

    Primers!?

I'm working with an old load I used to use. Winchester 296. The current data on their (Hodgdon) website lists a Minimum of 21 grains and a Maximum of 22 grains for the 125 grain XTP bullet. I've loaded a box of 50 Rimington 125 grain Golden Sabers on top of 21.5 grains with CCI Mag primers. My...

    Reloader work area

Well the story goes like this: We met in High School back in the early 70's and the first time she got to see my bedroom on the second floor I had a V8 engine in parts in my room.....She ain't broke me yet! She did learn from my mother......Just close the door and pretend it ain't there...

What method do you like for Priming?

I'm currently using a Lee Classic Turret press with the Lee Safety Prime system installed. It works great! It will feed all but the last two primers and I just pop them out and set them in the feeder cup by hand.

    Reloader work area

All my reload stuff is in my office in the house. I call it an office but it is more like a work shop with carpet and a computer.
