Got this little gun as a bike hunting gun for pigs. Scope's a Bushnell Elite 3200 2-7x32 with the Firefly reticle sitting in Weaver Top Mount low rings. Nice and low.
This thing really is TINY.
Overall the feel is somewhat like a Tikka T3 only scaled down a bit in action length and not quite...
AMT Small Game Hunter .22
10/22 clone but with a solid stainless receiver and 21" target weight barrel, injection moulded stock.
This was very accurate.
Hand to surrender it in 1996 when the Aussie government pretty much banned semi auto's. I'm still angry about it...
Will depend on magnification and field of view - a low powered 1.5 scope will pick up the front sight in low or probably medium mounts, a 4x and up won't pick it up in low mounts.
IMO a scope should be mounted as low as comfortable, too high slows down handling and target acquisition IMO.

If that's the same 265gr Hornady SP they've been making for years, it is a hard bullet and will penetrate well - don't expect a lot of expansion at .44M speeds. I've recovered them from hogs before, more or less unexpanded. So they are man enough for big boars. :)
I've shot off a couple of...
Had one for several years, I hunt pigs with it and it's great - though for pigs a bigger mag would be great.
240gr XTP @ 1800fps or the Lyman Devastator 275gr cast HP @ 1650fps or 315gr Lee flat nose @ 1500fps all do great.
Scope is a 1.75-4X Bushnell Trophy with the Circle-X reticle.
I have used both the .44 240gr XTP and 265gr Hornady FP on hogs. Driven at 1800FPS from my 96/44 the XTP is a violent expander as you would expect. On pigs around 120lbs it is emphatic. If you were going for the real big boys I would take something that is going to offer more penetration...
Hand to hand - just like the Six Million Dollar Man did it.
But as I'm not bionic, I'll take my 96/44 shooting hardcast 315gr flat nose boolits at 1500fps.
