Here's what I did; New Ed Brown ss thumb safety and mag release and EGW ss mag catch lock. Metaloy hard chrome finish for slide stop, beavertail safety and mainspring housing $96.00 total I'll post some photos after the parts come in from Metaloy and I reassemble the gun

Some people like me just don't like the looks of the black parts. No different than buying a new Harley and then replacing parts with chrome.

I was checking out my Sr9c that I bought yesterday. I noticed that I can dry fire it with or without the magazine inserted. I thought this had a mag release that prevented firing when the mag was not in the pistol?

Well Mac A, you've inspired me to change the black parts on my full size sr1911. I just ordered an Ed Brown mag. catch and thumb safety from Midway. I'm probably going to go with the hard chrome on the grip safety and mainspring housing, in order to avoid having to fit those parts.. Still...

Hey Chief I loaded both Mags when I got the pistol and they sat for 3 weeks before I got to the range. The strange part is, if I pull the slide back with the magazine empty, then the follower pushes the stop in place and it stays open. I think I'll call Ruger tomorrow and see if they'll swap it...

My new SR1911 came with a 7 round and an 8 round magazine. The 8 round magazine won't keep the slide open after the last round is fired. I've filled it and fired it until empty 5 times and each time the same results. Maybe a weak spring?
