Ruger grinds/sands their grip frames individually, so every one is a bit different. That, and their grips are made to a universal standard that has little relation to reality. We're probably fortunate that they fit as well as they do.

I am doubtful that the bucket contains that much lead, UNLESS you know for a fact that there are no steel or zinc weights in it, along with razor blades, tire valves, snuff cans, nitrile gloves, etc. Not trying to be a wise guy, but lead weights are almost extinct in many places.

Periodically, depending on the amount of use. More clean, than lube, though - just a light wipe with CLP (or whatever) so the inside of the mag doesn't rust.

IIRC, nominal SAAMI spec for .44 Mag handguns is .429"; rifles is .432". That's GROOVE diameter, BTW. It's much less expensive to slug the bore and stop just short of the receiver threads. Drive the slug back out the muzzle and measure it, then run another slug all the way through and compare...

I'm more concerned about the sometimes widely varying powder charges in WWB ammo than I am the lack of cleanliness. Speaking of dirty ammo, did you ever shoot any of the old Wolf steel-case stuff when they first began importing it? That stuff was funky, at least the .45 ACP that I sampled...

I can use either one, but I slightly prefer the manual safety. The key thing is to train with what you carry, so that the manual of arms becomes automatic. Some of the younger firearms instructors not trained on or familiar with the 1911 have gone on record as stating that they are 'unsafe'...
