    Vaquero's

Check out BOWEN CLASSIC ARMS. They have already done some work on NEW VAQUEROS and caliber changes, etc. Their book shows an Old Model Blackhawk 357 converted to 32/20 IIRC...same size frame. All it takes is yankee dollars.

    Bisley Gunfighter grips; need advice

I've got EAGLE GRIPS Gunfighters in water buffalo horn on BISLEYS 44 and 357 guns...love them. BUY the set the other poster wants to sell. EAGLE would fit them for free in the past...I did a walk in with VAQUEROS with out cylinders...don't know if that is possible now. I have elk stags on...

New Model Super Blackhawk Bisley BONUS BONUS BONUS

CSA is Competition Strut Assembly, a mainspring strut with adjustment for hammer over travel. Used to be in Brownells catalog.

    Brass Bisley Grip Frames

IIRC, QUALITE/MK TECHNOLOGY had a limited run of brass BISLEY trigger guards that got snapped up pretty quick...I dropped the ball on one on eBay for $175...turned out they had 12 or more to sell in the lot. Some of the high end "show and tell" customizers who patronize Alan Harton, John...

A 5 shot GP 44 Special is theoretically possible, yes?

Hamilton Bowen has done conversions of this type IIRC.

Costs of getting barrel shortened. Other considerations.

With the criteria of cost and re-sale value, your best option would be to look around for an ACCU-SPORT stainless 44 BISLEY in 5.5 inch barrel length. I cut a blue one, and then had 2 stainless SUPER BLACKHAWKS converted to BISLEYS with BROWNELLS conversion kits. I shot the h*** out of them...

Value of a Vaquero vs SBH trade

I installed HUNTER grip frames on several Original Size VAQUEROS in 357 and 44...SUPER BLACK HAWK hammers also. IF IT WAS ME, I'd do the above to your 44 magnum VAQUERO and then have a gold bead front sight installed (after figuring out what height was needed!,) hog wallow rear sight modified...

Looking for a couple of AR 15 type magazines

I'm afraid you may be out of luck on magazines for awhile with the panic buying. I'd go to gunbroker and find a BUY NOW that I could live with. There are some prices already that will make you cry!!!! Yesterday I went by one shop....had 100 30 round P-MAGS coming in and 40 of them sold...I...

What do you think of this Old style Bisley Vaquero

There is a 5.5 inch SS 44 MAGNUM BISLEY VAQUERO currently on gunbroker for $600. It hasn't had any bids...and has been re-listed once or twice, IIRC. IF I wasn't broke and in the midst of a divorce, it would be sitting in my safe ASAP. I have its twin with a nice set of elk stag grips.

    BH Base Pin Latch Nut

Look through BROWNELL'S catalog in the single action tools section. I finally broke down and bought one awhile back. The gate spring tool is another good one to buy if you take the gun completely apart. I keep a spare set of parts, in blue and stainless both, for the base pin latch. While I...

Choosing barrel length in a revolver.

There ain't an easy answer. My preferred guns are 5.5 inch Original Size VAQUEROS, BUT I have a 3.5 and a 4 5/8 plus several 7.5 inch guns. You have to shoot them and carry them for awhile to shake down to what you want. Me, I have the luxury of multiple guns in multiple calibers and "dress...

    Blackhawk cylinder nail nicks

Bob Baer, from somewhere in Texas, did the modification you're talking about. I'd kinda like to find out the technical details myself. One of the guns that Mr. Baer did is pictured in John Taffin's SINGLE ACTION SIX GUNS on page 217.

    hammer swap om vaquero

Original Size VAQUEROS have a two digit prefix serial number. I have installed SUPER BLACK HAWK hammers in several of mine. IF you want to use a BISLEY hammer, without changing to a BISLEY grip frame, you have to do some grinding on the lower portion of the hammer in order to fit it. PROBLEM...

    SBH 5.5..unfluted cylinder

Screw-ups get out of the factory from time to time. IIRC, the cataloged guns have fluted cylinders in 5.5 and un-fluted in 4 5/8, 7.5 and 10.5 inch lengths. I've got a couple of used SBH that were either cut from 7.5 locally or went back to RUGER for a barrel change back when you could ship...

Why Is My 50th Anniv. .357 Blackhawk So Accurate?

IIRC, information from various sources is that RUGER changed its maufacturing process on cylinders from MULTIPLE chambering reamers at one pass through the machine to using the SAME reamer on all chambers. IF this is correct, all the chambers should have identical dimensions...which ought to...
