    Guns from a fire question

I agree with those above that said the amount of heat is the issue. My parents had a house fire many years ago. The guns were in a gun cabinet with a glass door in the basement. The flames never touched the firearms or anything else in the basement. However the heat was hot enough to cause rust...

    New Ruger/Marlin 1984 .44 Mag

Jim, you're right, I had not noticed that before. Here is a picture of both of mine side by side. The 44 is the rifle on top. You would think that the 44 would be the one strapped twice, not the 357. Either way that’s still a nice looking Ruger Articruger. Enjoy shooting it.

    10/22 Show & Tell

I picked this 10/22 up in 2007 at a local Gander Mountain store. It was new and on sale for $275. It's the target version with a hammer forged bull barrel and nice laminated stock. It hasn't been shot much over the years but it is a tack driver. I topped it off with a Nikon scope. Sorry guys, no...

    2023 best pocket gun.

Most of the time I carry a 9mm hellcat in a cross draw holster. Small, compact, accurate and I’ve had no problems with it. On the occasions I pocket carry it is a S&W 380 Bodyguard. With the mag extension and the extra mag it fits very comfortably in my cargo pockets. Again no issues with the...

    Knife sharpening

I’ve tried a lot of sharpeners over the years and landed on the Lansky system. For some reason I could never use the diamond version very well. So I’ve stuck with the stone version. it’s consistent and gives you a razors edge. Sharpening a knife isn’t that hard, but you have to take your time...

    Yard deer

Our does and fawns or should I say yearlings are running around during the day. The bucks we only see at night. Here is a picture of a small eight point enjoying my wife’s flowers Off the back of our deck.

    Ruger .44 magnums

I only have 3 44 magnums at the moment. The Contender is my deer hunting pistol and the Super Blackhawk was my dads. The Taurus was a gift from a good friend. Sorry about the 45 LC in the picture. It’s an old picture I took for another topic.

    Hollow Point Vs. Soft Point

I’ve been hunting deer with a pistol for over 25 years now. I started out with a 357 magnum Colt trooper and ended up settling on the 44 magnum T/C Contender. I also used a 41 magnum, 45 long colt and 357 maximum in between them. I am here to tell you all of them will take a deer as long as you...

    Ridiculousness I've seen/heard

I agree Mobuck. I just watched a show the other day that to be honest made me mad. They shot at an elk at 700 to 800 yards. The first shot hit the antler and just stunned him. The second shot hit in the left shoulder and clearly had broken his shoulder. As he limped over the top of the ridge not...

    .444 Marlin

I would say it depends on what your plans are with the guns and the area you’re going to hunt with them. In my opinion the 444 is a flatter shooting gun and the 45/70 has a bit more punch. However as was noted above both calibers will take and has taken anything in North America. I have both...

    Big iron owners check in

Here are my 44’s and 45’s. Not all are Rugers but big bores just the same. They are laying on a buffalo rug I bought 30 years ago.
