    Ruger No.1 Big bores

.460 Wby??? Sounds like ouch to me. Hornady 500gr Heavy Mag ammo runs 2176 out of my No. 1 and the Wby is 400-450fps faster. My .458 is enough for me and I suspect it is easier to load down than is the Wby but I'm no expert on that bad boy. Don :)

    Ruger No.1 Big bores

I wouldn't say "only" regarding a 45-70. In a No.1, they can be loaded to be fully adequate for anything that walks the earth and fortunately for those who own one, Garrett's ammo will do the job if you don't reload. Don

    Ruger No.1 Big bores

How many of you have big bore No. 1s? By big bore, I mean .375 H&H and up and what do you do with yours? I have a gorgeous No.1 in .458 Win Mag. Near presentation grade wood with an excellent trigger. It's about a 1.25MOA gun off the bench with a 2-7X scope as long as I do my part. Some...

    sp 101

Never have issues with heavy, carry, JHPs. After a lot of rounds of wadcutter, it takes a bit more push on the extractor rod but nothing major. Cured by cleaning which I do after every range trip. Don

    LCP Service Life

I have and will continue to comply with the owner's manual specfic statement that +P ammo is not recommended. I think there are a lot of people who ignore such advice. Not sure if SAAMI recognizes a +P 380 rd but everyone who is a serious shooter knows what I mean. I've seen commercial .380...

    LCP Service Life

I enjoy shooting the LCP, it's quite accurate for me at typical CCW ranges i.e., 7yds. Doesn't tire me but I had been reluctant to put many down the tube until now. Will shoot it a bit more from now on. Speaking of service life, I just got a new S&W M&P9 M2.0. This one has a longer barrel...

    LCP Service Life

I have always considered the LCP to be in the category of "carry a lot and shoot a little" despite that I wondered what the service life is. I called Ruger Customer Service this AM and asked. He said he didn't have a specific service life but said customers have reported firing several...

Do You Shoot Federal Premium Micro 150 gr Cartridges?

Thanks for the clarification. The internet isn't a good medium for expressing humor. I was in no way suggesting that you don't do good reloading work. For all I knew, you might be a new "boutique" reloading company. Don

Do You Shoot Federal Premium Micro 150 gr Cartridges?

Is this a joke? I sometimes don't see sarcasm in internet threads. Googled FergusonT035 and got images of farm tractors. Don

Anybody use a 9mm for pest control?

My son is a retired cop though he remains LE through quals and continuing ED. The only time he fired his duty firearm was when he was called to a scene about a bothersome animal. Almost as soon as he stepped out of his cruiser, a large, angry pit came at him. One shot from his 45ACP ended the...

Do You Shoot Federal Premium Micro 150 gr Cartridges?

No but I do carry Federal HST +P 147gr ammo. Don

    lci

I've never understood a couple firearms issues some shooters have. Dislike for safeties. Don't like it, don't use it, easy. Don't use it and you have the same reliability as a gun w/o a safety Loaded Chamber Indicator. Personally, I like the SR9Cs, quick and obvious indication of a round in...

115gr slugs in a .380? Few are heavier than 95 gr. Don

    Ruger LCP Service Life

I don't find it at all unpleasant to shoot. Considering the limited number of rounds I've put through it, I'm also very pleased with my accuracy. Don
