I am certain many of you have advanced skills working on guns. I have no special tools, no good workbench that is gun-friendly, nor good vices/equipment for holding gun parts. But as I tried to beef those screws out under the lever, I spied and decided to use two canoe-roof-carrier foam...

Looking for a Ruger "Buckeye Special" 38-40 / 10mm convertible

I inherited an 1896 Winchester Model 92 in 38-40. I want a revolver that can shoot 38-40 but REALLY like the idea of being able to use 10mm at 1/4 the cost for ammo. I have laid in a store of 38-40 and don't want to shoot it much, rather save it. I am not a collector, although I now own 2...

    Sling stud

So I learned something new, never had a rifle apart and certainly never removed a stock. I probably didn't have to take these screws out at all to remove the stock. So while I work on the repairing the stock, I was able to re-assemble the spring-screws so I don't lose them

Got the screws out. To my surprise they weren't screws that went up into the wood, but thru the tang and one holds the hammer spring and the other, I suspect, helps tension the spring---adjustable?

Hello I don't have permissions yet to create my own thread and need to get a few more comments made before I can. I just bought a Ruger Wrangler and I am trying to find a Ruger Buckeye Special convertible...but my question is about my old 38-40 Winchester Model 92 (1896 make). It has a split...

So, which is worth more? Buckeyes

I am looking for the 38-40/10mm if you are still in a selling mood.

Finally - Wranglers with different barrel lengths

Since this topic did swerve into some talk of barrel length, I have a question pertaining to that. I am looking very hard to find a 38-40/10mm convertible revolver. My preference would be the Buckeye Special Ruger, the only other option is the Cimarron Bad Boy. Bad Boy is still in production...

    Reuniting Buckeye brothers

To the best of my knowledge, Ruger came out with a special order series of 5000 convertibles (Buckeye Special). One year they ran 38-40 with an extra 10mm cylinder. The other year they ran .32-20 / 32 H&R Mag with swappable cylinders. In both cases, the barrel liked both kinds of ammo but the...

    Reuniting Buckeye brothers

I would like to give a home to a 38-40/10mm convertible, but I don't think I need a pair. My dad left me a Model 92 38-40 carbine and I wanted a revolver to go with it, plus shooting 10mm would mean I can hold on to more of my 38-40 ammo.
