Thanks for your service! I'd go with the .280 its a great cartridge. It should handle all your needs. As far as the "EX"... don't worry about it. I was NAVY '69 - '75 so I understand you "misguided children". :lol: Semper Fi Marine.

My #1 RSI 7x57 (.275 Rigby :lol: ) shoots 3/4 to 1 MOA out to 200yds with 175 slugs. Just have to let it cool a little bit between shots. Not a great long distance varmint gun = but have knocked down a coyote at 310yds with it.

I also am a member of the "7x57 Lovers Society". My favorite is my No.1RSI, followed by my No.1A, and lastly my Winchester M70 Featherweight (with factory iron sights) - all in 7x57... (or .275 Rigby) :wink: I've used 139gr to 175gr bullets - the lighter ones are OK but I seem to have better...

Although I'm partial to the No.1S 26" barrel style... ya just gotta love the No.1H 24" rifles - mine are #1H in .458 Win Mag and #1KH in .375 H&H. I know I'll never hunt Africa...but I CAN dream :wink:

I've swapped out the wood between two No.1s - kept both guns...used the "plainer" wood on my main hunting gun.. And if you get one No.1...most likely you'll end up with others!! They are VERY addictive. :P

In 30-06 - No1A or No1A Centennial. In .300 - No1S .300 H&H or No1S in .300 Win Mag.... I personally love the No1S style 26" blue/walnut. GREAT!!!

Of your 4 choices...I'd go with a Glock M20 10mm over any of the other 3. The Glock 10mm is powerful, has high capacity mags,is light weight, and is easy to operate (basic "Point and Click"). The 10mm is a great cartridge - only downside is availibility and cost. The high capacity may come in...

Great buy! Those Blackhawk .45s are sooo versatile/strong/and just plain good lookin. I don't have the blackhawk...but I do have three of the Ruger stainless Bisley Blackhawk .45colt/.45acp convertables in 5 1/2". They are fast becoming a "knock'n around the boonies" belt gun.

Late 1960's S&W M29 4", or M28 4", Ruger Redhawk .45colt 4", or if I feel nostalgic - Bisley Blackhawk .45colt 5 1/5".....being a big old fat guy,I can conceal them without much trouble.

I prefer the Redhawks over the Super Redhawks but I'd probably like a SRH .454 - I'd have the barrel trimmed to 5" - 5 1/2" , reinstall the front sight with changable blade and keep the scope option. That would be an OK hunting set-up.

I never could warm up to the Hi-Viz/Firesite type sights that are all the rage now a days. I'm more of an old school guy - black rear, front ramp (black, or red insert,or my favorite - black with gold line insert). ...also, even if those new fangled sights work - they are just plain Butt Ugly !!
