    Ruger Ranch Rifle in 556/223

Tried to use the search but it's not available this morning. I have a Ruger Ranch chambered in 223. I have been told that not all rifles will chamber both the 556 and 223. Mine will chamber both although the cases are different. I suspect that the 556 will not chamber the 223. Am I correct...

New respect for the .38 Special

About five years ago a minor accident laid the flesh of my right hand just back of the thumb open to the bone. Luckily the tendon was not damaged however. The problem is that whenever I fire a magnum handgun now my hand stars swelling up and getting sore. I remembered that years ago I had an...

    OJI and a new AR15

Take it easy Karl. I tore a tendon in my heel on my right foot a month ago. I have done the cortisone treatment to no avail. I ice it up every night. I take anti-inflammatories by the handfull and still no relief. Now the doc wants to inject cortisone into the heel. My problem is...

I went to the range this afternoon: Posted for Wayne Beebe:

I went to the range this afternoon and shot a bunch of the various .22 ammo I've been able to score over the last few months. Temp was 33, winds light and variable, range 100 yards, out of a well-modified 10/22 that shoots one hole at 50 ft. with match ammo. The scope was zeroed with the...

We have a pair that nest here and hang around our bird feeders. Hence the handle. Nice picture.

    turtle porn

Yep, Racoons love those tasty eggs. I see them hanging around all through the turtle nesting season. They get them the first night they're in the ground.

Whitetail load suggestions, RUger 77/357 please?

For me the .243 or 6mm Rem were very accurate and sure killers for white tail. Never had a deer run more then 100 yds. While the .357 does have more ooomph in a rifle, I still think the range is limited. I did get tired of all the ruined meat when the bullet hit bone and exploded, so now I...

    rifle recommendatons

I own a lot of Rugers. Having said that my latest acquisitions are two Henry rifles. I first bought the Yellow Boy in .22 LR, and now have a new Henry Varmint Special in .17. Well made and a lot of fun to shoot. I own a Winchester 9422, a Marlin 39A .22, a Ruger 1022, a Mossberg bolt action...

    ruger all of a sudden

I have fired several 7mm Mags and do not care for the recoil. If you hand load you can use a 7mm Mauser and load it up a bit and have a nicer cartridge to shoot.

    Cabela's Exclusive No.1 in 7x57

I have one that I purchased around 1978. I have killed several deer and turkeys with it and love it. I only shoot hand loads with it and since factory rounds are downloaded to accommodate all the old WWII rifles around, I can load it up a lot hotter.
