    Ruger PC

Unfortunately, even though the number of 1911 owners out there seems to be growing all the time, market studies showed that only a very small percentage were interested in a companion carbine. The 1911 really isn't a field gun and it's still a pistol cartridge with a small amount of powder so...

    Ruger PC

There were prototypes made in .45 ACP and they shot like a dream. It was never put into production because of the cost involved to make the conversion and the sales of the carbine weren't all that stellar to begin with. It was too expensive to use as a plinker, and underpowered for hunting...

    P95dc, not firing double action

Don't leave it there. Call Joe, write the CEO. MAKE A STINK !!

    P95dc, not firing double action

What a crock of hooie!! That's a downright lie!! Dry firing will NOT hurt a P95 unless they've redesigned the system recently. Personally, I'd call Joe Cramer and if you don't get any satisfaction from him, go all the way to the top, to the CEO. Write a letter or go to the wbsite. There's a...

    P95dc, not firing double action

They sure have changed since I was there. There was no such thing as a 'wear item' when I ran service. The warranty was pretty well absolute. Personally, I'd call Joe Cramer (service manager) and complain. It isn't right.

    P95dc, not firing double action

Something doesn't sound kosher here. If it's a timing issue, which ammunition you used would be irrelevant. If Winchester USA, Remington UMC and CCI Blazer (Aluminum case) are available in your area try those, too. There is nothing about Fiocchi ammunition that would separate it from any of...

    P95dc, not firing double action

No, do not use heat. Use a bigger hammer. It is a very tight intereference fit. Actually, most of the time, if it doesn't fire SA, it's a timing issue that you can't do anything about anyway. Apparently yours is marginal and only malfunctions when it gets a little fouling in there. Hate to...

    P95dc, not firing double action

That last description is the key. It sounds as though the firing pin block may not be getting out of the way all the time. There is less hammer travel in DA than SA. therefore less hammer energy. The timing may also be off. Try this. Remove the rear sight, from left to right. Check to see...

The New Vaquero will take +P 45 Loads per Ruger(do not try)

I've said my piece. Some have listened, some haven't. As has been often said here, anytime you exceed SAAMI spec you are taking a chance. My background with Ruger and my personal loading experiences over the years confirms that. I'm out of here.

The New Vaquero will take +P 45 Loads per Ruger(do not try)

TJB - You obviously haven't paid a bit of attention to what has been said or you don't have a clue to understanding what I said. The Ruger is designed to operate at SAAMI spec and handle SAAMI proof loads, not those published by Linebaugh or Hodgdon. They are not safe!!! You want to blow your...

The New Vaquero will take +P 45 Loads per Ruger(do not try)

The problem with the Hodgdon loads is they specify everything in CUP. There is no direct correlation between PSI and CUP. CUP is based on the amount of compression of a solid copper crusher .225" dia x .500" long. Each lot of crushers has it's own conversion sheet to PSI. It can be slightly...

The New Vaquero will take +P 45 Loads per Ruger(do not try)

The .45 Colt has the thinnest wall. The next in line is the .44 Mag in the old Vaquero and Blackhawk. I'm sure the thinnest portion of the .44 Mag wall will hold SAAMI loads. Whether the chamber wall thickness was calculated for the .45 Colt or the .44 Mag I don't know, but I would expect it...

The New Vaquero will take +P 45 Loads per Ruger(do not try)

I always said Ruger guns were designed to operate at SAAMI spec. Any dealings with the military require guns to meet DoD spec, not SAAMI. European made guns that are sold in Europe must conform to CIP, but European exports to the US do not have to conform to either CIP or SAAMI. US exports to...

The New Vaquero will take +P 45 Loads per Ruger(do not try)

Once again I must disagree. For military, yes, a proof test is part of the military requirement as various other DoD requirements including endurance tests. For European export, conformation to CIP is not required. We sold many guns to various European countries that met SAAMI spec but not...

The New Vaquero will take +P 45 Loads per Ruger(do not try)

First of all, there is no pressure test required by law. SAAMI is a voluntary standard. I don't know what you mean by a 100% safety factor either. The average American made gun is designed so the maximum proof load does not exceed the minimum yield strength of the material. But that doesn't...
