    Sneaky snake

OK i have to admit growing up in a city and living in suburbia snakes scare the hell out of me. I cant tell a rattler from a rat. As a kid the only snakes I saw drove Cadillacs. Also thanks for the great pics!

    Gun in baggage

Make sure its in a locked gun case. You can transport no more than 5 at a time. I dont know if they still put a large red sticker on your luggage letting everyone know there is a weapon inside but I asked them to put it on the gun case and not the outside of my luggage which they did. No ammo...

Problems with my recently purchased, used, 10/22

When my son would hold the rifle (he was just being introduced to shooting) he would hold it "loose" (for lack of a better term). He would get about 1 misfire every 5 rounds. When I fired the 1022 I would rarely get misfires. I had him hold the weapon securely against his shoulder and his...

I like midwayusa.com for parts. I would listen to what blume357 said, he knows his stuff.

Better ammo is a great suggetion, my 1022 is somewhat finiky when it comes to ammo. You may also want to check how you are holding the rifle, when my son starting firing it if he didnt hold it tight against his shoulder he would get more than a few misfires. Good luck.

    Smelting Lead Ingots

You have a very nice operation but I do have a few questions. Do you worry about lead poisoning? If I remember my chemistry right lead melts around 700 degrees and has a vapor pressure of around 900 degrees. Do you monitor the temp? Also what about other possible contaminants like cadmium? I had...

My first mini 14 .223( NEW TOY )

I bought my son a Ruger Mini 14 a few months ago and told him her could have it when he earned his Eagle Scout. He is now a Life Scout and working hard on his Eagle. Mini 14's make a great insentive! Of course I had to take it out and make sure it was working a few times. As nice as the new one...

    Mini-14 and Silver Bear .223 ???

I would be interested in knowing too. I shot some Wolf 223 ammo using my sons new Mini 14 without any issues. I did notice Wolf uses brass primers so I would think the steel casing would not effect the firing pin.

    Caliber for the Wife

My 12 year old son (5"3", 75 lbs, skinny guy) used his 243 on a Russian Boar last year. First shot to the head dropped the hog, second head shot did the trick. The hog was a 200 pounder.

    Ruger tube feed .22 rifle

I have both a Ruger 10/22 and a Marlin 781 (bolt action tube feed). To sum them both up: The Marlin is more accurate then my Ruger but the Ruger is more fun. BTW I got my Marlin when I was 10 so I've had it 39 years...damn I'm getting old.
