    Touching up wood

Did you put linseed oil on it? If so the stain can't penetrate. Also might not penetrate the epoxy. You can try lightly sanding off the oil and then finding a stain that matches.

First Deer Ever via Redhawk .41 magnum

Congratulations. In my opinion there is no need to soak the meat. If it's cold enough I let the deer hang for couple days to age then skin and cut up.

    Blackhawk Stocks

The last time I ordered from Altamont it took awhile.

    Bear Loads

John Taffin has loads for .357 that he says to only shoot in Redhawks. They are up there!

    Getting into .30-30 Winchester

I seem to remember that with 3031 it was 30 gr. with 170's and 31 gr. with 150's. A lot of the old loads are now considered over max.

Reducing recoil on .41 mag ruger black hawk 6.5 inch

A steel gripframe would give you a little more weight to deal with the recoil. I learned to let the gun roll instead of fighting it but you have to remember that there is not much difference between 41 and 44, they both kick. I also believe in the heavy cast at around 1100 fps will do anything...

    45 Colt and 2400 powder.

I shoot 20 grs. when using 250 xtp. to ensure expansion. With lead, I back it down to 18.5.

    Talo Vaquero

Don't think I would have used red locktite on a gun. Need heat to remove it.

    GP 100

I find it easier to be accurate with longer barrels. If I got a 6 inch it would be the half lug. You also have the option of the 5 inch. I changed the springs in my 4 inch but it was pretty good to begin with.

Looked at a lovely sp 101 today, but...

is the transfer bar catching on the firing pin or something else?

So I'd like to refinish the wood on a 1984 No. 1 RSI

I use Strip-eze to get the finish off with synthetic steel wool. Some light sanding then stain followed by tru-oil. It is a lot of work to make it look right and I would not do it on a stock that looks that nice. Then again it's your gun and an oil finish is definitely nicer.

45 colt brought a smile to their faces

My son invited me to go shooting with his friends. He said bring the 45. Everyone had their various plastic guns and were having a blast. I break out the Blackhawk with some Ruger only loads and they start taking turns shooting it. Everyone at the range stops and says what the hell was that...

    Chopped gp100

I think you could get a lot of business half lugging gp's. Been thinking about it myself.
