    No 1 Circassian walnut?

    My 7x57 Leopard stock has a pattern similar to yours in that it has the deep horizontal dark streaks . However the wood does not have fiddleback chatoyance that yours has. I'm thinking that yours is black walnut (& a heckuva lot nicer than my stock :D ) congrats on the beautiful rifle

    RJ556 many thanks for your info. That is a stellar setup with the Nikon & your mod'd rings-well done! I've mounted a Leup. VXII 1-4 on Warne QR rings and did not like the result. I had some Weaver bases for the Ruger#1 and remounted the scope with Weaver rings. I was able to move it rearward...

    Hello all...newbie here. Found my classic grail - a #1A in 7x57 and am looking for scope suggestions. I was thinking along the lines of a Leupold 1.5-5? I have an older VX-1 3-9x40. Its such a elegant rifle & I dont want to over scope it..... is a 3-9x overkill? thanks in advance for your help.
