Mk III bolt won't lock back after last shot

Well, I finally got to go to the range, and everything's working properly again - with the new bolt stop part installed, the bolt locks back every time it's supposed to, and I had no failures of any kind with about 120 rounds of Federal bulk ammo. Thanks to all for your interest and assistance...

Is there any "prefered" load for the MkI - II - II

I've found, with my Mark III Target, that I have never had any problem with CCI Mini-Mags. That said, since I installed a Volquartsen Exact Edge extractor, I haven't had any more stovepipes or other problems, even with the Federal bulk hollow points. As always, YMMV - get several kinds and try...

Any pics of scoped Ruger Mark I, II or III?

My Mark III Target 678 with a Tasco Red Dot sight (which was inexpensive, but works really well for me)

Mk III bolt won't lock back after last shot

An update: I went ahead and bought the replacement AN-37 Bolt Stop Assembly (thanks for the info, Rooger!). I installed it with the help of Bullseye's detailed strip instructions at guntalk-online.com/detailstrip.htm (thanks, Bullseye!). It wasn't particularly hard, just took some care (and...

Mk III bolt won't lock back after last shot

Doug, I did make sure my mags were in all the way -- but that's a good reminder anyway. Rooger, when I took mine apart and looked at it, there is, in fact, some significant wear on it -- looks like a gouge out of the corner! The funny thing is, I never use the lever to release the bolt, so I'm...

Mk III bolt won't lock back after last shot

My Mark III 678 Target -- about 5 months old, with about 2,500 rounds through it -- did something odd today that it hasn't done before. I was shooting at the range, and after firing several magazines, it stopped locking its bolt back after the last round. Everything else was functioning...

Corrosion under a Mark III front sight?

Thanks for the additional input. Dan in response to your question, everything that I can see on and around the sight is blued - no bare metal showing - but I suppose there could be some exposed metal inside, on the faying surfaces... Thanks! Dan

Have you MKIII owners seen these? (pic)

I agree with Omega's #2... I've had some minor problems with FTF and FTE in my new Mark III, so I removed the LCI (everything works fine without it), and put in a Volquartsen extractor...and now (about 100 rounds so far) it seems all better!

Help in selecting red dot optics

So far, I've been quite happy with my Tasco red dot on my Mark III pistol -- it's low end (about $35.00), but has a good bright round dot. I've been out shooting with it a couple of times, and it does the job. A caution, though -- make sure whatever you buy will fit your rail. My pistol came...

    RUGER P345 shooting low

Not necessarily...I realize what you're saying, that gravity and ballistics make a bullet drop over distance...but there's also parallax due to the sights being above the bore axis. On my Mark III Target, I have the iron sights set up perfectly for 25 feet, and it shoots about an inch high at...

    mark III torture test

You're not a dork -- you're a shooter who really really enjoys shooting your pistol...and sharing that fun with loved ones. About a week ago I took my two kids, and two of their friends, and my Mark III 678 Target to the range. Three of the four kids were shooting for the first time -- and they...

    Jack Weigand mount???

I just took my Mark III to the range today with the kids (who had a great time, BTW), with a Tasco red dot on a Jack Weigand rail. I had cleaned the screws and holes before assembling it dry. After about 150 rounds, the rail was very wobbly, as the screws were backing out, so I removed the sight...

What HAVE I just bought? 22/45?

Be thankful...I have to hit my Mark III 678 Target pretty hard several times every time I take it apart (though after maybe a dozen times it feels just a little easier. Remember, it just means you have a good tight-fitting pistol! Dan

    markIII target problem....

Just as another input...my Mark III 678 Target seems to feed Federal bulk hollow-points just fine (not my preferred ammo, but bought some by mistake, thinking it was round nose...gotta read the fine print...). I'm pleased to not have any problems with it so far (about 300 rounds). Dan

    Loaded chamber indicator/Mag disconnect

O.K., so as an update to my previous post, after finding out just how easy it is to remove the LCI, I did remove it, and subjectively (based on one day at the range, and about 200 rounds), my Mark III did seem to run better: no FTF, only one FTE with the bulk Federal ammo that has occasionally...
