    SR 1911 front strap checkering

My early production SR1911 does not have them. I have never seen one in the wild with them. I don't think they made too many with the grooves on the front strap. I agree with you I find then more ascetically pleasing than the smooth front stap.

    S&W SW22 Victory Rear Sight

I am looking for a complete rear sight assembly for a SW22 Victory. I would prefer the fiber optic but would be happy to have anything.

Optic recommendations for a target pistol

Thanks for all the info. You have helped me narrow things down to a few good options. I typically only buy quality as well, cheap things tend to cause nothing but frustration. I just wasn't sure I wanted to spend $300 -$400 on something that I may not like and doesn't get used. But I don't...

38 SPL carry opinions or recommendations.

You say for pocket carry and between the LCR and the 442/642 I would have to choose the S&W. It' just a touch smaller and better shaped for pocket carry than the LCR. For me the S&W is less noticeable in the pocket verses the LCR. For shooting the LCR wins any day over the 442. I don't enjoy...

Optic recommendations for a target pistol

Looking to put an optic on my mark IV. I have never had an optic on a pistol but would like to try one. I'm not looking to spend a lot or need the highest quality either, I have never shot with one I may not like it. If I like it then I can look for higher quality. Do you recommend a reflex...

Cost to send Ruger in for service

My experience has been that if the issue is considered a defect or quality control issue, then Ruger pays the shipping. If it's something other than that, like normal wear, abuse or neglect then you may get charged shipping. But as stated above the only way to know for sure is to call and...

    New mini14

It is a beauty but not at that price. A $1000 rifle and a $300 stock. The price seems a bit high

    Bisley Hammer on a Birdshead

Yes, the Bisley hammer has a hump on the back that will need to be ground off to fit your birdshead frame. Just use your old hammer as the template to mark the Bisley hammer and bit of dremel and file work is all it takes. The Bisley hammer on a birdshead frame makes a great combo. It looks...

    Sending sp101 to Ruger

No receipt necessary, no registration necessary, original owner not necessary, you've got to love Ruger! It's been just shy of a year since my SR1911 went back to Ruger for repairs and I didn't have to pay a thing. It was all on their dime and it came back repaired along with a bit of Ruger swag.

    Guns.com certified used guns (revolvers)

I have made two purchases of non certified guns with no issues to speak of. Look at the pictures carefully and ask questions before your purchase and I think you'll be alright. According to their website, a certified gun as been inspected and rated using their 10 point inspection process. I...

    Dad’s Single Six

Nice looking single six you've got there. Looks like a 1957 birthday if I'm seeing the serial number correctly, but you probably already knew that. I'm sure one of the aficionados will be along shortly to give you the details. Welcome to the forum.

    45lc and 357 mag

I say get the 45 Colt and don't look back! I have both Vaqueros and New Vaqueros in 45 Colt. A 45 Colt Vaguero is hands down my favorite pistol to shoot. A 45 Colt Blackhawk is a close second. I have a 357 and I don't find it nearly as much fun to shoot. If I'm going to shoot 38 spl or 357...

Frame color inconsistancy in LW 9mm "Commanders"

I too have noticed this and have had the same question as to why. I myself an not a fan of two tone pistols and prefer the look of the lighter colored frames similar to the one you posted, it almost resembles stainless.

    LCR vs S&W 642/442

I'm in the market for a pocket revolver. I'm really considering either an LCR or a S&W 642. I also like the Kimber K6S, but not the price of it. Other than handling one in the gun shop I have not experience with the LCR. I did shoot and carried a 642 for a day several years ago, it was not...

    Price drop?

I think $600 +/- price is great for an American made 1911! I really hope to see Ruger drop the price on their other light weight offerings. I have no interest in a full size 5" light weight 1911, however I would love to see the commander and officer sized light weight 1911s at that $600 price.
