That scaly stock is cool. Nice peep sight as well.

How about a MkII pistol with a 10" barrel? It's basically a carbine that has lost its stock... 😁 Joking aside, it's a pity that we have these silly SBR laws. A stock that clamped onto the grip frame of a Mk-series pistol would be a sweet accessory if it didn't require a tax stamp.

Too much scope for a 10/22?

That's a good point, and would argue for buying both scopes. Only problem is that my time and patience for shooting the rifles off a bench may be too limited to sort out which of my two 10/22s is really better, if there is any measurable difference. I ordered the Leupold, and a Leupold base...

I just bought a Ruger Mark II target

Wow, I think you've cornered the market on them!!!

Too much scope for a 10/22?

Yeah, that was part of the appeal of the small Leupold. And it does have the vertical part of the reticle hash-marked for hold-over, although it's 2nd focal-plane so that kinda complicates that issue... And you're right, kludging together a home-made cheek riser doesn't really bother me, so I...

I just bought a Ruger Mark II target

I wouldn't make that assumption myself. The first MkII Target I bought was a 10" and the second was a 5-1/2". The 10" is ridiculous but I think the 5-1/2" may be the most practical Target model, particularly if you intend to use an optic. And even 6-7/8" doesn't tell you all you want to know...

Too much scope for a 10/22?

I have a pair of BX triggers for my 10/22s that I bought a few weeks ago. Still need to get off my butt and install them. I'm not planning on anything beyond that for upgrades.

I just bought a Ruger Mark II target

Good price if it's in good shape. Paid more for my last MkII and that was a couple of years ago. They're not getting any cheaper. How tight is the fit of the mainspring housing? Flipping up the locking lever and pulling the mainspring housing out is the hardest part of taking down one of my...

Too much scope for a 10/22?

Is it crazy to put this scope on a box-stock 10/22? https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1020545744?pid=189609 I like the mrad reticle, not because I need it but just because it's crazy-looking, but even if I wanted to make use of it, would a 10/22 be accurate enough to make the effort worthwhile...

What size rings fit the base that comes with a 10/22?

Weaver or 3/8"? I have a couple of 10/22s so I should have a couple of scope bases somewhere, probably in the boxes the guns came in up in the rafters of my garage. I need to order some scope rings and it's easier just to ask here than dig them out! Or is it better to get an aftermarket...

Punch size to remove rear sight from original Redhawk?

My little truth-in-advertising joke. Some guys who LURRRVE the .45 Colt make a surprisingly big deal about 23 thousandths of an inch, so I'm just being honest.

Punch size to remove rear sight from original Redhawk?

A while back I bought a Weigatinny rail to put on my original model Redhawk .43 Magnum. I didn't rush to install it, and it finally occurred to me when I looked at it last night that I would need a pin punch to remove the rear sight pivot pin. Not the kind of tool I have a full set of. What size...

    44 mag load data question

Not what you want to hear, but IMR4227 is very well-regarded on Cast Boolits for use with plain-base lead bullets. It won't produce the screaming velocites of H110, but it's not exactly a bunny fart, and since it's a just a bit over the hump (too slow) in burn rate, I believe it is a bit more...

Can You Handle The .44 Magnum?

No padding needed, just something to protect my girlish skin a bit. I work in a research lab so my hands are pretty soft. When I go out for an unusually long day of kayaking I have to wrap the lower knuckles of my thumbs with duct tape to keep the paddle from abrading them. It works...

Can You Handle The .44 Magnum?

First time I shot a .44 M I was 21, 22, something like that. A friend's dad had a Super Blackhawk and the one time I shot it, six rounds was enough for me. The last three my trigger finger was sore due to the thing flipping up so much. I concluded that I hated the .44 M. But I grew up...
