Thanks for the replies guys, I appreciate the thoughts on the issue.
I think Skalkaho Slim is right, I'm probably just over analyzing it.
I have to ask SAJohn, I don't quite understand what you are trying to say here, "I believe things like action time and hammer strike are in the noise level...
Congrats Merlin on getting yourself a new P-shooter. 10/22's are great little guns and they are tons of funs! 25rd Banana mags are a must and lots of ammo.
Ive got one that was given to me by a friend of my dads. I put on a cheap Bushnell that I got from Big5 with a set of see through rings and...
The design of the Blackhawk hammer makes it a high mass part. Due to Newtons Laws of Motion (I believe Law 2 would be the reference in this situation). The acting force of the hammer striking the frame causes the muzzel to dip, pulling the shot off point of aim and target. I dont want to reduce...
Bothe .44Mag & .45LC are great choices and of course you if you go with a .45LC you have the safety of the Blackhawks tank frame and can shoot the so called Ruger Only loads.
s4s4u makes a good point. If you are gonna be slinging hot loads, go with a Bisley. Or you have the option like I did...
Id guess they are set close by eye allignment or bore sighting for something like a .22lr. It could have been knocked around a little in final assembly/placking or shipment, or also maybe the sight got hit while it was in the shop waiting for a new owner to come along.
I also wouldnt put aside...
Yup, exactly. Thats why I ordered from Ruger directly, both MidwayUSA & Brownells were back order 1 month +.
I have a stainless OM Vaquero that I'm working on now (constructing a custom grip frame) that I would really like a Montado hammer for but I think thats going to be impossible to find. I...
I have and affinity for the .41 Remington Magnum and happen to have a couple of Blackhawks. A 6.5" mfg in 1983 & a 4.625" mfg in 2009. They are both plow handle grip frames, I was thinking of converting both to full Bisleys' because I'm just not fond of the plow handle (something I didn't until...
Thats a pretty sweet little idea. I have seen it before, I was at a local gun range and I saw a guy with a high dollar competition rifle using one. Since then, I have made up a few myself for various firearms I have. They work great for running patches to clean a bore!
I appreciate the offer James, but I would rather trade one for one. Don't wanna have it sitting w/out a grip frame. I'll keep your offer in mind if I change my mind though.
Nice job, good to see that revolver rescued and given a new life. What wood did you end up using for the grips, since the Rosewood fights with you? Also, how did you attach the trigger over travel button?
I have never shot a 22/45 (MK II or III), so I can't really speak for them besides a little gunshop handeling. They are nice, do feel comfy and the polymer frame does cut the weight.
I have a MK III 5.5" Target model and it is a very nice shooter. Yes the grip angle is different but its not a...
Nice work, I did the same exact thing to a MK 1 I have, I also added an over travel screw in the trigger too! I whish I could have found some Volquartsen or Clark Custom parts for it, but didn't find anything for MK 1's. I also did a trigger job too.
