    22 caliber "kitguns"

I've never really had a "kit gun" though I have a Uberti Stallion that would come close. I have a Bearcat, but not sure I would want to depend on it for "kit gun" use. Bob Wright

Im going to buy 2 powders

I don't load .32-30, but my SOP is to go with the slower burning powder. Typicall produces lower pressure with equal velocity. Rule of thumb only, the proof is in the shooting. Bob Wright

Manual safety on semi auto's or not?

The Browning designed pistols like the Colt Government Model do, indeed need need a manual safety if the gun is to be carried for everyday/defense carry. To be instantly available, the pistol should have a round chambered, the hammer cocked, and safety engaged. While there are other safeties...

Manual safety on semi auto's or not?

Some of the new fangled DA autos don't reqjuire a safety, much the same as a DA revolver. But, ceertainly for Browning designed SA autos, a safety is a muft. And clicking off the safety on a Browning design is analgous to cockng the hammer of a Single Action revolver. Bob Wright

SOLD Stag Grips for Ruger Old Model XR3 Frame Reduced

Westerville, You might clarify that these are for the original Three Screw XR-3 and not the New Model grip frame. I believe the locating pin holes will have to be relocated if for the New Model. Beutiful grips, by the way! Almost tempted to look for a gun for them! Bob Wright

    Powder question.

In general, the powder that is slowest burning (from the charts) is my choice for any given load as it developes the lower pressures. Not a 100% guide, as loads need to be proved by the shooting of them. Bob Wright

    Crows

A few, well, many now, I had moved my car out of the drive to so some yard work. When I went to move it back, just as I ;t my hand on the door handle, a feminine voice warned, "Ah Aaha!" Instinctively I jerked my hand back. Only to realize a flock of fish crows were flying over. Bob Wright

    Crows

My late son-in-law's grandfather could hoot like an owl, That brought crows into handgun range. A .22 WMR in the Ruge Super Single Six was my favorite crow gun. Bob Wright

    Thanksgiving treat

I gave some thought to buying a Thampson Contender once, in .45 Colt. But found out I could not get the auxilliary .45 ACP cylinder. Bob Wright

Why the "special" cartridge in a magnum?

As I recalll, the S&W Model 19 was THE snub nosed gun at the time, and was the choice of Sky Marshals, and a +P .38 Special round was specially developed just for this use. Can't verify this info today, so may be urban legend. Bob Wright

Why the "special" cartridge in a magnum?

"Bob, I said nothing about a .44 special or other special cartridge in a firearm chambered for that specific round. Mea culpa if I did not make that clear." I realized that after my wordy post. I just got carried by my own eloquence! My apologies. And...........as a matter of fact, I shoot...
