You certainly can buy another brand or model. The problem will be, you won't own the beautiful #1 RSI you are looking at now. No they aren't target guns but they sure are nice to look at and most will shoot quite well.

Only problem I see is replacement stock and very reasonably do not go together

Wrapping something around the wood is alright, just don't leave it on there too long if it gets wet. Hold the second round in your teeth and spit it into the chamber if you need a second shot. :mrgreen:

Very true, all the more important to try all the tricks and load development to shrink group sizes. After all shooting from the bench, in the good weather, and taking all the time needed between shots, is sure different than most any field conditions while hunting. Why not have the rifle tuned...

I think the local shop could use the money and I know the state could use the tax dollars included in the out the door price. Hell ask the shop to split the difference if the 50 bucks is that big a deal. I don't think that is a bad local price at all and you get to see what you are buying..

Did you clean the barrel at any point? Dirty barrels can effect group sizes.

I also shoot the No1 in 300 win mag. Try it with out the brake, your ears will love you and not that bad on the arm either.
